Why The Giant File Size when saving a 2 Minute Kontakt recording?

Hello,

I recorded 2 minute midi clip that I played this morning- it was an Analog Dreams sound. Then I went to save it and it wanted to use a MASSIVE amount of Gigs to save this one 2 minute single track recording. What is happening here??? I'm using Cakewalk Sonar, by the way.

Perhaps you are recording at 96 kHz?

Yet, even if so, it is still too many giga for 2m rec!

It is also heavily depending on how many tracks are included in your recording.

Typically:

Project with 64 channels (tracks) to export a 2 minute .wav file, recorded at 96/24, needs approximately about 2,2 GB of disk space.

I suggest to contact NI Support for this matter. I don't think i saw such bug before…

Though you should be prepared for a potentially long delay, due to the holidays/sales season.
