License Traktor Pro 4 still tied to hardware after upgrade?

Hi NI,

As I understand, if I purchase a controller secondhand e.g. Traktor Kontrol S2 MK2 the original licences is still valid (that I can redeem after contacting support etc.) with it.

If the controller originally was purchase at a time before version 4 of Traktor Pro dose this means I only get access to an older version of the software?

If it is the case that I only get access to an older version and I choose to upgrade it to version 4 what do I get? Do I get a "full" version of the software that is no longer tied to the hardware or will the upgraded software always be tied to the hardware (serial number)?

From my understanding you get a licence for the software that came with the original hardware, which I think was TP2. You'll be able to upgrade it to the full version of TP4. That upgrade is tied to the TP2 software licence as it's an upgrade, but if you sell on the hardware at some point you get to keep that software and the buyer gets their own copy. The TP2 licence stays in your account as does any software upgrades based on it.
