Question

When using the MX2 while standing during a performance and the power strip is on the floor, the MX2 power supply cable is not long enough. It is too short. I encounter this issue in over two-thirds of my approximately 40 DJ performances per year.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Does NI plan to offer a power supply with a longer cable?

Why on the bottom? If it's free to be picked up and it will reach - put it on the table behind your MX2 and laptop. If the power sockets are wall mounted at floor level, use an extension cable with enough sockets for the equipment required. If you're doing regular performances, this should be carried as standard in your bag/case. 🙂

Alternatively you could power it from a battery pack or USB-C brick with a suitable PD cable.

When I setup the table for other DJs, I put a powerstrip behind the DJ gear (from the DJ pov)

None of the gear I normally work with have long enough cables (Xone 96, DJM, CDJs) to reach the floor.

But if you really don't want a powerstrip on the table, a extension cable for the 15v part should work. Don't add too much length though :S

Try searching for "Barrel round Plug extension" and make sure it's the same plug as the one from NI.

Are you German? If you search for "dc verlängerungskabel 15v" on for example amazon.de you should come close. But there are different plugs, you have to find the rigt one. And I would try to stay under 2 meter extension.

Thank you very much to everyone who replied. I now know that my problem is quite rare. That's why I can understand why the cable for this power supply is so short and why it's not worth NI's while to offer a power supply with a longer cable. I've now ordered an extension cable from Amazon.
