Hi everyone
I have been struggling with a persistent issue in my setup for several years, and I hope you may be able to help me find a solution.
My current setup consists of:
• Yamaha Clavinova CLP-645
• Native Instruments – The Grandeur (2019 app)
• Audio Interface: BEHRINGER UMC (Driver v4.38.0 – 20.02.2018)
• Audio-Technica M50xWH studio headphones
• High-performance PC (powerful hardware)
• Instrument connected to the PC through a UPS
The problem:
When I play directly on the virtual keyboard inside The Grandeur, the sound is full, warm and well-balanced — exactly as expected.
However, when I play through my Clavinova, the tone becomes noticeably different: less rich, sometimes too bright, and above the 5th octave even harsh or “screechy.”
Occasionally I can also hear a mechanical-like noise, which makes the playing experience quite unpleasant.
I have already tested different headphones and even bought a new pair (Audio-Technica M50xWH) yesterday, but the problem remains.
My PC hardware is powerful, so performance should not be the issue.
My suspicion:
The cause might be related to the Preferences settings — possibly velocity curves, touch sensitivity, or other configuration parameters.
Despite many attempts, I have never been able to achieve a consistent, satisfying result. At one point the entire audio stopped working, and I had to uninstall and reinstall everything to get it running again.
Could you please advise me on which settings I should check or adjust in order to achieve a tone that matches the quality I hear on the virtual keyboard?
Thank you very much in advance for your support.
Kind regards,
Selçuk Donat
