Just bought the Kontrol MX2 . Loving it and the performace have been great except from two issues that I have already raised with N.I and still waiting for a response which as we all know will take ages (if at all they will response) as now all what we get is the gateaway clause of Cyber period which we also don't know when this will be over.
N.I scrapped the sampler mode in the MX2. The only way you can trigger them via the remix decks is by using your laptop mousse. But guess what I found out? You can trigger them via your pads when using Virtual DJ Pro. All you need to do is click on the hotcues button on the sofware dropdown arrow and loads of options will pop up and amongst them is sample mode. Once you click on it , the pads are activated and you can trigger your samples from the pads. As we say easy picey. So if VDJ can map its software for this feature to work in a traktor hardware how come N.I can't do this to its very loyal users like myself who have been using it for 18 years now. Then there is the issue of the boost volume which changes when you touch the volume button of the MX2. This doest not happen with either the S2 MK3,S3 or S4 MK3 which I own.
Its a deja vue to some of us when it comes to our experiences using Traktor products. Traktor unlike other DJ gears manufacturers has never launched a new product without it having issues that they normally take ages to resolve. Traktor is the only company that had problems with low heaphone outputs which this time around with the MX2 they got it spot on. A reason why I want to keep the MX2 for my foreign DJing trips.
Traktor launched the PRO 4.1 and the software was freezing if you an attempt to relocate a missing track. It took them ages to resolve this. The question some of us Traktor users always ask is whether Traktor does not have quality test check division to run rigorous tests before launching their products. Its us the users you have to flag these issues up before they are resolved. You will hardly get these types of basic issues with manufactueres like Pioneer, Rane or even Numark or reloop etc. The reason I am told is that these companies contact users of their products for reviews before they are launched to the public. I do not think Traktor does that. If at all they do its just to a particular limited group who either got no clue about day to day DJing needs or its just people who work only in one specific genre of djing.
Don't get me wrong here, I still love Traktor and will continue to use it until as it has rumouring for sometime now that it will be discontinued.
Your thoughts about this folks.
