i upgraded to a new macbook - and sadly my S2 will not power up. Any advice?

About which Kontrol S2 are you talking? Mk1, Mk2 or Mk3? And which Mac with which OS did you use before? Which version of Traktor are you using? Is Traktor already started?
In case of a Kontrol S2 Mk1 I have bad news: It will not work with your new MacBook. Officially this model was last supported with macOS 10.11 or 10.13 it won't work with newer versions of macOS as it requires drivers that don't work with newer versions.
In case of a Mk2 or Mk3: Should work, these models are class compliant and should work fine with generic drivers delivered with macOS.
