A blurred wave of a waif shape, followed by mute and tractor hovering

Hello.

This is about a very popular issue: a blurry waveform appears, after which the sound cuts out, and Traktor freezes. It can only be closed by force-quitting.

I was using an S3 controller on a Windows 10 laptop with the latest Traktor 3 update. The laptop has an Intel 12450 processor and 16GB of RAM.

The waveform issue appears by itself—it might happen in the middle of a set, or not at all. It happens randomly, even on the same tracks. The problem might not appear for a week, or it could happen twice in one hour.

After this problem, I bought a different laptop and Traktor 4, and also switched my controller to an S4 MK3 (this laptop is also powerful, with a Ryzen processor). And what do you think? The problem didn't go away!!!

The blurry waveform appeared even when all other programs were disabled. And conversely, I can be working with many programs running, and the waveform is fine!!!

Why don't you acknowledge this problem? Read the forums, there are literally a million messages about this! I used to play on Pioneer DJ equipment and never had a problem like this!

So what now? I'm forced to find other software for my sets, like Virtual DJ or others, just so my sound doesn't cut out during a prime-time set!!!

I have tried all the standard methods: disabling Wi-Fi, setting maximum performance, closing all other programs, etc. I have been trying to solve this on my own for about a year!!!

Is this issue being resolved in any way?

Have you „Loading only into stopped Deck“ disabled?

This has helped me, I had the same issues like you.

Hi Sergey, I am suffering the same issue (Asus Vivabook, i5 W11 16MB). In my case, disabling the load only in stopped deck did not help. I opened a trouble ticket (4691580) with support a couple of days ago. Hopefuly someone from NI will jump in and tell the community what is being done to solve the matter.

I also tried several other workarounds with no success. I have another laptop (Dell, W11, i3, 16MB) that works fine with Traktor 2 and 4 (and off course same controller, S2 MK2)… Frustrating I cannot use the more powerful one.

there should be a crash dump or error log that could indicate why this happened. I’ve experienced it also several times over the last years. Even on traktor 2.x on a MacBook. I now always restart my laptop before a traktor gig, and go into the audio settings, change the buffer size around a few times and then set it at my preferred buffer size. This seems to help to avoid the problem but not 100% guaranteed.

Are you guys using an external drive where your audio tracks are located?

I've seen this issue about three or four times and all my music is on an internal SSD. I don't own an external drive.

I have the upload feature in Deck disabled. I submitted a report, and an employee replied to me, but due to the language barrier, even with a translator I couldn't understand what I’m supposed to do. All I understood is that there’s no solution to the problem, and apparently I was supposed to send some kind of data.

Are there any staff members on the forum who can clarify this situation? So many people are writing about this problem, yet there isn’t a single real answer. All the responses are just: check your tracks, check your drivers, power, enable or disable certain features. The staff doesn’t seem to understand that this happens on different operating systems, different PCs and laptops with different performance levels, different controllers, all drivers, all power modes, and it occurs on its own in the middle of a set. All methods have been tried and nothing helps — the problem is in the software. Starting from version 3.5, if I’m not mistaken.
