Hello, friends. My question is, why can't Pro Tools detect Kontakt 6 (older files PT)? It only detects Kontakt 7. Pro Tools does not see Kontakt 6 player, Kontakt 8 player!!!
Another user with a similar problem reported this to be the solution , so perhaps at least worth a try (?) :
I finally found a solution and it was different than anything I could find on the internet. I found that for some reason my system had two"Plug-Ins" folders. One in the normal "Library >Application Support > Avid > Audio" directory, and one in my "MacHD > Applications" folder. I saw that Kontakt was missing from only the "MacHD > Applications > Plug-Ins"folder, so I simply copied the AAX plugin over and it popped up and works great as a Pro Tools insert now. No clue how that folder got created, but that was the fix.
.
I just can’t get my Kontakt (6) to show up. I wonder if 2025.12 running on Tahoe is a step too far. I can’t risk losing years of demos!
Ref. : Compatibility of Native Instruments Products on macOS
First supported version of Kontakt on Tahoe is Kontakt 8 version 8.8.0 , however then since the compatibility list is only an official guideline then not having a Mac then I can not tell what is actually possible to get to run if you tinker…
thanks for the reply. Makes komplete sense 🫣 obvs I have raised a ticket, received an early reply that K6 & K8 could install concurrently. I replied but silence so far. I’m not holding out much hope.
Still have the old Mac, but revisiting every session and rendering out audio on all K6 is a tough pill. I know I should have done it at the time, but my demos stay in flux until release.
I would recommend reading, and following this article:
https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/12972701353757-Notes-about-Auto-Migration-of-Kontakt-Versions-in-DAW-Projects
You should be able to install Kontakt 8, and by following the above steps, use the auto migration process to replace all Kontakt 6 instances with Kontakt 8 automatically.
