Komplete Kontrol s61 crashing Pro Tools

I'm having an issue where adjusting the knobs on the keyboard crashes Pro Tools. It only happens when controlling certain plugins and it's not always the same plugins. I can use all the DAW features fine. Any ideas on what would cause this to happen? Thanks!

Maybe detail some plugins that seem to cause this to happen. Also, post the screenshot of your MIDI input preferences just to confirm things are correctly set there. I am not a PT user but I am sure others who use KK without issue should be able to help.

It happened with Repro-5, I updated that and seemed to fix it. Then with UAD Helios, reinstalled and that seemed to fix it. Now it's happening to the Korg Polysix plugin (haven't tried reinstalling that yet). It also happened with the MS-20 at one point but I can't remember how that was resolved. There were others as well, just can't remember them all. So it seems to be random

Also worth mentioning, I don't have any of these issues in FL Studio

I think I found my answer and possibly what you meant regarding the MIDI inputs. In the thread posted below, NI says to open in standalone and only select the Kontrol s61 as the MIDI input. I had another MIDI controller selected in the KK inputs as well. I disabled the other controller and it immediately resolved the issue in PT. It seems that some plugins were possibly getting conflicting MIDI signals and crashing even though I wasn't using the other keyboard.

Yeah that is why I asked for the MIDI pref screenshot. The "DAW" port should not be selected as a MIDI input port because it is not actually for MIDI signals an instead sends control signals between keyboard and DAW. I don't use PT but in Live if you select the DAW port as a MIDI input it causes some strange issues such as loss of track focus.

Strangely even after all these years and countless users having this same issue, there is still not a simple FAQ note to explain it, it does show a configuration screenshot where it doesn't show that port as checked for a DAW however no explanation as to why and most people will simply enable everything.

I wouldn't have thought the standalone inputs would even matter for the plugin so I never thought to check, but once I set it correctly everything in the KK plugin worked properly. Also, I noticed that when I connect ANY other MIDI keyboard at the same time, those specific plugins will crash PT when attempting to use the knobs to control the NKS presets from the s61. Disconnected everything but the s61 and it works.

I was able to have multiple controllers initially after fixing the inputs, but then I connected another older keyboard just to test and that caused the same crash. Then none of the other controllers worked lol. Very strange behavior but then again PT does this kind of stuff. I'll just stick to the s61 only, seems to be working fine now.
