Need To Equalize My Music Files Converted To MP3 From Cassettes And Vinyls

Hello folks,

I have some audio tracks from vinyls and cassettes, from way back I've been listening still. I would like to 'clean' them up to sound much better just for listening pleasure. I guess I would need to Equalize the tracks.

I have Magix Music Maker Premium 2023, which is really for track mixing. I am looking for, if possible, a stand alone equalizer to open the music with, equalize with Presets or save my own setting.

Or, what would be my best option to equalize my music collections? Please I would like a fairly simple method since am an ol' school guy.

I am not entirely sure if what you need is just an 'equalizer' and further more then I am not entirely sure if you are in a situation where 'one setting fits all'.

Vinyl are also different from cassettes. Anyway , from what I can see then what you want is what used to be Magix Audio Cleaning Lab or SOUND FORGE Audio Cleaning Lab. They do not exist anymore. However then the new 'Magix' alternative for that is the Sound Forge A.S. and Pro programs.

What you want is the SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 17 or SOUND FORGE Pro 18 . As it happens then they are both on one of Magix' offers at the moment. You will probably want to navigate to the shop that is correct for your country prior to doing any purchase. But both programs have some cleaning functionality and EQ functionality. From where I sit then SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 17 is on offer for € 29,99 and the SOUND FORGE Pro 18 cost is € 139,99 . You can probably do fine with the SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 17. As far as I remember then Magix always offers Demo versions of their software.

By the way , I need to warn you that Magix company has been in turmoil the last years and at least part of the company were sold to Boris FX I think (Sequoia, Samplitude and Music Studio) so the future of Magix is uncertain. But the software still has the same use value…

P.S. : The Sound Forge programs mentioned above both support VST plugins, so to the extend the plugins are compatible then you should be able to add audio processing plugins also , including free ones from NI Plugin Alliance (e.g. Free Ranger).

For me then the recommendation for an 'old school' guy like you is what I wrote above. Check the internet pages for the apps and try the demo of the programs and then you can decide for yourself. Manuals for your Magix software should be available from your Magix account where it says something like 'instructions' next to software name…

Take a look at dbPowerAmp https://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

That has batch conversion of files along with DSP effects like equalizers so will probably do what you want. It's a paid product, but you get a 21 day trial period which might let you process all your files.

I'd say there's no need to actually buy anything. Just download Audacity (audio editing software).

Load, equalize, save.

Alternatively look at VLC which is a media player similar to the old legendary Winamp.
