Is there a way to change time signature for a scene ?

I have a song mostly in 4/4 but a chorus includes a 5/4 bar. I can isolate this bar in a specific scene but I don't find a way to change the time signature of a scene.

This is a feature available in all the other DAW products I use, and without it I cannot use my Maschine Plus for this song.

no that is not available, you might be able to use clips for that section and this way work around it, but then the grid is off 1/4th.

Hello Uwe, could you elaborate on this clip workaround? I have wav files for the 5/4 bar (bass, drums). But then I have two issues: 1. when I add them as clips they are played rapidly on one step of a bar, and not on 5 steps and I don't see where to change that 2. maybe more importantly I don't know how to leave a 1/4th bar empty space in the Song timeline so that the clips are not covered by the next 4/4 scene. You are my last chance, I have started to look at MPC as they seem to support my need.

after trying out myself i found out it´s even much easier, you press - shift + follow (grid), select the arrange tab (buttons over left screen) - then you set the grid to 1/4, then you can increase and decrease the length of scenes, patterns,…….. by 1/4th.

And do you use the audio module for your sample, I guess it's a phrase and 5/4 long? You can check in audio module if the bpm and length is set correctly, so maschine can play it back properly.

You can change the pattern length used in the scene. For example, if your scene was only 1 bar just use a pattern length of 1:1:0 which would equate to a 5/4 bar. You would also need to make sure your "sync" method was set to "Scene" in order for all the patterns to start at the beginning when changing from scene to scene.

Hello Uwe,

I integrated my 5/4 sample as a pattern in Maschine Studio but although the 5 beats were recognized, I could not change the pattern length to 1.1.0. It was jumping directly to 2.0.0.

But I uploaded the project to my Maschine Plus and then I followed your guidelines, went to the Arrange tab and set the length to 1.1.0 and it worked. Still, when rendering, the 5th beat was actually rendered as the first beat of the bar (looping on 4 beats).

What I did then is save the project with its samples on the Maschine Plus, download that on my Mac and open the project in Maschine Studio. The scene extended on the Maschine plus was having 5 beats and it was now possible to set the length of the pattern to 1.1.0 to render the full sample.

So it works!

Now, the 1M$ question: is there an equivalent in Maschine Studio to what I did on the Maschine Plus (the Arrange tab)? That would avoid the additional back and forth step between Studio and the Maschine Plus.

See that, NI? ^^^^ This is why we needed "time signature per scene" support, as early as yesterday.

i only know that after setting the arranger grid to 1/4th i can set all patterns, scenes and clips to 1:1:0, in steps of 1/4th. I also tried with a beat sample that is 5/4 bars long and it works with the audio module as expected.

as you can see with the playhead the sample plays as it should, i used also some clips but that also could be all scenes filled with patterns. And on the maschine studio it should be the same with the "shift + grid" function.
