Sampling from plug-in mode?

I'm using Maschine as a plug-in & trying to sample in live guitar loops. It doesn't seem Maschine has access to my audio inputs. They are present, I can select them through the hardware but there's no audio coming through.

A Google search told me to buss my audio to a bus, then record the bus. But when I do that I don't see the bus as an input, even when I insert Maschine as an insert on the bus.

am I doing something wrong, or is this just not possible?

What DAW are you using. For example; if trying to use Maschine in Cubase, you'd need to route to maschine inputs via sidechain. Not sure if other DAWs use the same.

Hello,

you can only do that with machine stand alone, cause there is no maschine fx vst anymore, this had a stereo input.
