Hi to all! Has anyone here been able to make the Numark NDX500 work with Traktor Pro (any version)? Hope to get help here.
All you need is mapping and Asio4All to aggregate two devices
@VityaT Thanks for the response. I'm aware of the need for mapping and Asio4All. I've encountered just 1 person who has a .tsi file. Got a copy of it through a Dropbox link that person posted on YouTube. I've also utilized Asio4All, but still can't get things to work correctly. As shown in his YouTube video, his Output settings are: Output Deck A L 3: Numark NDX500 1 R 4: Numark NDX500 2 Output Deck B L 5: Numark NDX500 1 R 6: Numark NDX500 2 But I don't see those choices on my Output Deck dropdowns.
Well what do you see?
Can you take a screenshot of your
Also what other devices are you using? If you have a decent audio interface, or a mixer with an audio interface you could use that and drop the asio4all shenanigans.
@lord-carlos Truly appreciate your response. :) At the moment I'm not using any "special" device. All I got here are my 2 Numark NDX500 players connected via MIDI to my laptop, a rather basic Numark M4 mixer (no audio interface), and a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (AMD Ryzen 5 7533HS 3.30 GHz, 16 GB RAM, 2 GB dedicated graphics, and about 500 GB SSD storage, all running on Windows 11).
I'm using Traktor Pro 2 during all these testings as I only have license for that version. But definitely going to upgrade to Pro 4 once I'm able to get all these to work with this current hardware setup. Please see attached screenshots of my ASIO4ALL, Audio Setup, Output Routing, and Controller Manager. Set up the way you see them on the pics, both NDX500s control only Deck A (left deck).
Also, the entire time that both NDX500 players are MIDI connected, their displays are almost empty showing only "d1" on their upper left corners and "PC" on their lower left corners.
Screenshot looks gucci. When you play a track there is no sound coming out of the players into the mixer?
If you play anything without traktor, on the NDX500 via USB/CD directly, I assume that works?
Thanks for checking out the screenshots, @lord-carlos. Tracks play with sound when loaded to Deck A using either NDX500, though music pauses randomly for about 3 seconds then plays again. But neither one of the two can control Deck B at all. Yes, @lord-carlos, everything’s dandy when I’m just using my NDX500s with CDs, USBs, or Virtual DJ (also via MIDI). Things only get problematic with Traktor Pro.
I don't know about the NDX, but if it's anything like CDJs you have to select different midi channels on the device itself.
Judging from your screenshots it seems deckA should be midi channel 1 and deckB channel 2.
Thanks, @lord-carlos! Thought of that too. Both NDX500s show "d1" on their screens when MIDI-connected to Traktor Pro.
Before I got these NDX500s I was using a pair of MIDI-capable Denon DN-S1200s. The Denons needed to be both MIDI-assigned (MIDI 1 and MIDI 2) before they could work with Traktor Pro. A little online research and I got hold of their user manual and was able to assign their proper MIDI channels. With Virtual DJ, the Denons' MIDI assignments were both MIDI 1, which is also the case when I'm using the NDX500s with it. So it looks like the two software differ in how they want their controllers' MIDI assignments. Virtual DJ doesn't mind that both players are on default MIDI 1, but Traktor Pro needs the NDX500s to have different MIDI channel assignments. The problem with these NDX500s is the lack of detailed help documentation. Only a quick-start guide came with the purchase and nothing in that little PDF talked about how to change a deck's MIDI assignment. I couldn't find anything more useful online than that insufficient guide; nothing on Numark's website, nothing anywhere. I guess I should just message Numark about this and see what I can get from them. I'll post updates here as they come.
I give up. This is a hopeless, lost cause. There are problems in life that are worth tackling even with seemingly unending, massive efforts. But making these Numark NDX500s work with Traktor Pro only leaves you faced with a 100-km tall, 100-km wide, and 100-km thick dead end wall: a dilemma where the "how" of it all will go down in time as an unsolvable mystery.
With only these NDX500s to DJ with, I’m doomed to never be able to use Traktor Pro for DJing again.
I can't even sell or offer for swap this almost brand new pair with DJs these days trembling in fear at the sight of modular or stand-alone DJ gear.
What did numark support say?
Other djs fear standalone gear? Cdjs are quite popular.
Edit: chat Gpt says you can hold down the prog button while booting the device. But maybe it just dreamed that up.

EJECT. Not used. This button selects one of the 4 available MIDI channels of the NDX500. Regardless of the selected MIDI Channel, the NDX500 will still control the assigned VirtualDJ deck.
