I have huge list of complaints about K8 "upgrade" from K6, most of which are about the Default View.
First, K8 is absolutely not meant to be used with touchscreen. For example in Default View, try to scroll the Instruments list - impossible because the scrollbar never shows up. Or change the zoom to, say, 75% - you now need mouse to do anything because K8 stops responding to touchscreen completely, only the Windows level File and Help menu is accessible.
There is even no way to resize the window if the bottom right corner is out of screen borders, which is very easy to achieve - switch to 75% zoom, expand the window vertically, and switch zoom back to 100% - voilà, the right bottom corner is not accessible. You need to switch back to 75% or 50% to resize.
Sorting - why the heck only Default and Custom (and what is Default)? Why cannot I sort alphabetically or by developer, for example?
The list itself - all these images take a lot of space, is there option to show only instrument names in smaller font without useless background images? Nope I guess.
Handling of non-NA instruments and libraries is just below ground level IMO. I need to switch to Classic View and navigate through files to open.
The very limited (but better than nothing) K6 database view is now gone, how am I supposed to quickly filter in and open the instrument I need? All I see are Sound Type and Character tabs with predefined set of tags. Which cannot be edited anyway because these are not my custom presets. I.e. I have a huge number of instruments, but cannot organize them in the way I need. For every instrument I would now need to create my own preset (because original ones are all read-only), and even then I cannot assign my own tags to it.
Load Samples in Background - it does not load samples in background, because Kontakt freezes while loading them, it just hides the progress window.
I am very, very disappointed.
