I'm Old School. I started when Vinyl was still a thing but slowly was fading out to the CDs in the DJ Booths.
Old School DJs surely remember the times when CDs appear and everyone kept saying that "Real DJs only play Vinyl".
Time went by, and, as expected, all around the world the vast majority of the Bars and Clubs replaced the Technics turntables for the CDJs.
Back to 2025, we all know where this is heading. It's been about 10 years since I decided to move from Traktor to another DJ software because it worked with Spotify. And I loved it. But… It was not Traktor. All these years I was always expecting to have an upgrade from the Native Instruments team so I could go back to Traktor. My favourite DJ Software ever. But, they seem lazy about it.
Well they implemented Beatport and Beatsource (So, the "streaming" doesn't seem to be the problem)
But, that's not enough for everybody.
I'm an open format DJ and the music I play is NOT on Beatsource. I mainly use Tidal with Denon hardware but sometimes I play in other venues and I have to use another DJ software that is NOT traktor.
For those who says that "real DJs dont use streaming" please… Grow up… Real DJs make people happy. It doesn't matter what they use.
And, for those who say that using streaming is a source of problems. Well, not for me. 10 years using it and I've had 5 or 6 issues MAXIMUM (and I play EVERYNIGHT, all year long, except day off, of course.)
If you want to keep using USB sticks, go on. Nobody will say that you are "old" or less DJ about it. But, hey, it's 2025, so yeah. I think you all understood.
Cheers everyone :)
