Still can't get the MK3 up and running

So.

I bought this keyboard 4 months ago. Was unable to get it up and running so I gave it to a friend. We couldn't get NI to allow us to transfer ownershipto him so I got it back.

I still can't get it working.

I have the most updated Native Access. I re-entered the serial number. Trying to re-download Hardware Connection Services I keep getting the dreaded:Could not create new file or truncate existing file"

So I click and get a very technical, detailed explanation about download locations, root disks, other locations, admonitions for things I am clueless about.

Is it possible to actually get this up and running without using up hours of someone else's time or should I just quit now and call it a failure?

I realize the initial installation of the firmware to get the communications working between the keyboard and the outside world can be a bit daunting, but most of those things have to do with making sure you have the correct security settings applied on your system so the software can install.

At this point you're probably better off opening up a support call with NI so someone can get in touch with you and walk you through the process of getting the security setup correct. From that point on you should be able to get everything going.

Something you could try, without any guarantee:

Check the folder where NA downloads stuff. If there are any leftover (maybe corrupted) files, delete them and then try redownloading from NA.

In the past some users solved some inabilities to download things from NA this way

Probably gonna have to call NI.

I'm willing to try but how do I find out where NI deposited the files?

Sounds as some kind of misunderstanding to me.

Your OS info 'MacOS' is not sufficient info.

Anyway then why don't you just do the following ? :

To get the HCS then try using the link on this page : How Can I Use My Kontrol S-Series MK3 on a Different Computer? (Hardware Connection Service download)

And otherwise then afterwards try log-out , reboot , log-in on Account downloads page and then search for hardware to see if the HCS appears then. Then download HCS from there and install !

As a Mac OS user then also :

ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : Howto Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

And if using Sequoia then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network (Ref.: How to grant audio apps access to your local network on macOS 15 Sequoia)

Sorry for seeing this so late.

You can check (and set up) where Native Access download things in its Preferences, under File Management/Download Location
