Traktor with older CDJs

So I might be able to lay my hands on an old pair of (working) CDJ-800’s.

I’m wondering if I can use them with my DJM-850 in DVS mode using timecode CD’s, but being able to use the controls on the CDJ (like the loop buttons) if I keep the DVS in Absolute mode?
If not, then there are a bunch of buttons on the CDJ-800 that will just be sat there doing nothing…

Anyone doing this? Quite like the idea of a 4-Deck (2xTT, 2xCDJ) DVS set-up…

So, midi mapping is really not a problem for me, and, I've even got spare pair(s)(!) of Dicers lying around here. 😁

But what I want to really understand (and, I don't really see why it wouldn't), is what CDJ controls can still be used while using only a Timecode CD.

We can see from the first vid, that the seek buttons still work. Great! We didn't see if the Track Seek/Track Search button still works - but I suppose that only really matters if there is a "Browser Search Track" at the end of the Timecode CD and you could skip between the timecode signal track and the Browser Seek track.

Really like the idea of using the CDJ-800 loop buttons, but that's where the issue is. How do you "tell" the CDJ-800 what tempo it should apply the loop at??? No TAP tempo button???

Reverse button will work and the auto loop buttons will work plus the ordinary manual loop in and out, The auto loop buttons are just the CDJ telling the time code to make a auto made 1,2,4, or 8 beat loop theirs no quantize so you have to be spot on it would be better just to set loops in the software for good sync as usual. Time code dosnt like master tempo/keylock on the CDJ only on engage in Traktor, Track search is just to put the time code track back to 0 and the track seek will scan through the track but i found it a bit clunky. I mix exclusively all techno and i would recommend absolute over relative.
