Maschine+ Set midi note per pad?

Is there any way to have two pads respond to the same midi note? I would like to be able to have incoming midi (not patterns) trigger all pads, and then solo particular sounds I want to hear. Linked pads don't work this way, at all. I don't see any way to set the midi note that pads 'receive'. Possibly there is no way to achieve this?

I set up my controller to send two notes, so I can mute which sound I want, and flip between them.

it will work with pad link, you just have to enable "audio mute" on the master pad at least, otherwise if you mute that no other pad will play too.

I don’t know if this will solve exactly all your problems, but the way to set up things to behave has you want in a group is to set the midi in for every pad to USB MAS+ (or Maschine Plus MIDI if you are using DIN ports?).

In this way, sending a C4 note from a controller will make all pads respond and you can solo (or mute) the pads depending on what you want to hear.

I said C4 because if you send other notes the pads will sound depending on that note.

Only caveat: if you want to use multiple groups, you must also use different midi channels (one for each group) because the controller key (or pad) will otherwise always play all groups (and not only focused one). So you will also need one key/pad for every group (I’ll make more experiment on this to see if there’s a workaround, but I can already tell you using “Focus” or setting up midi on Group level doesn’t seem to work)

Another way (easier, but only if your controller allows it): set the key or pad to send multiple notes (I say this because I’m using an ipad and I can set up one single pad to send multiple notes, so I can have one pad sending all corresponding notes for every pad of the group).

Link will work, but as Uwe said, you won’t be able to mute the pad receiving the note. So the selected one must always be unmuted. You can workaround this by selecting one pad you will never use, empty it and keeping it selected. From then you can use mute all the other pads (linked to the same group as the selected one) and unmute the one you want to listen (but you can’t use solo, because this would mute also the selected empty pad receiving the note).

Advantage of Link and the “empty master pad” is that in this way you can use multiple groups all controlled by the single one key/pad that will at this point control the focused group
