I’ve been spending more time with Maschine 3 and wanted to share some pain points I’ve run into with the browser, especially around managing presets and keeping things tidy. Maybe others here can relate, and hopefully NI can take note for future updates.
- When I overwrite an .nksf preset, if that preset is currently selected (with certain synths in particular), Maschine bounces me back to the top of the browser. This breaks workflow and makes managing larger libraries frustrating.
- It feels like a missed opportunity that I can’t rename patches directly within the browser. Having to step outside into Finder just to make simple naming tweaks slows things down.
- Even if I rename patches in Finder, those changes don’t reflect in Maschine’s browser. The disconnect creates confusion when trying to stay organized.
- For example, Tone2 Gladiator patches often crash Maschine’s software. I know compatibility can be tricky, but stability here is a big deal.
- Renaming 3rd-party Kontakt patches can become a hassle. Deleting the old name while keeping the new one often feels messy and risky, especially when managing larger libraries.
Overall, I’d love to see the browser system in Maschine 3 get more love. Even small QoL improvements—like inline renaming, better preset syncing, and stability fixes—would go a long way in keeping workflows smooth and libraries tidy.
