As an owner of the Komplete 14 Collector's Edition, why costs the upgrade to 15 CE for me the same, as for owners of Komplete 12 CE? 12 CE is much cheaper to get as 14 CE. So for me it would be bester to wait for 17 CE?
Upgrade prices have always been applied to a prior "series" of Komplete editions - rather than a sliding model (oldest = most expensive - newest = least expensive). There are no prize or special treatment for buying Komplete 18 months ago and then deciding to upgrade.
And to your question - there is no way to purchase v12CE (or even V14CE) now - except via the used market - so the price can be whatever you can barter your way down to.
While each of us has our own reasons for upgrading - mine is always a value proposition - when enough new product has been added to a version of Komplete AND that added product makes sense for my creative process - I would probably pull the trigger on an upgrade.
