Multi-Core Processing - Safe to Use on Traktor 4.2?

Is Multi-Core Processing safe to use in Traktor 4.2? Particularly in regard to creating stems, does it make the stemming process faster, or more stable? (as we know, Traktor shuts down if you stem more than 15-20 at a time).

My DJing computer is a 2021 M1, and my Windows computer is an i7. I seem to recall reading that it was better to enable it on one computer but not the other and cannot seem to remember.

I do some gigs here and there with background music, and the long sets make a good time to stem the collection and want to see how multi-core processing affects it.

From what I understand. Multicore has to do with other processes needed priority also. If you only are running Traktor then turn multicore on.

If you run OBS streaming software or have open web pages or need a production software like Ableton running then turn multicore off.

Thanks for the reply. So I get that it would be a performance benefit to Traktor (assuming you're not multitasking). Is it stable from what we've heard?

I have never noticed much of a difference using it or not. I don't typically use multicore anymore because I have a music ID application running.

Traktor does best without any other applications running.

Was that "disable multicore on mac" not a thing from when the m1 came out and there was not a native apple silicon build yet?

Disabling multi-core processor support on Macs is probably obsolete by now. There used to be an article in the knowledge base about how to optimize macOS and Traktor. It said, among other things, that you should disable it. But back then, it also recommended disabling WiFi. Nowadays, we've integrated Beatport/Beatsource.

Then, with the switch to ARM, the problem with Rosetta arose, if I remember correctly, and it was also recommended to disable it.

Traktor is now natively supported on the new chip architecture on Macs. That's why I always have it enabled and have absolutely no problems with it. (MacBook Air M2) The CPU load bar in Traktor itself visibly decreases when it's enabled, and I can easily achieve an overall latency below 10ms despite external mixing with DVS without the load indicator fluctuating significantly.

That makes sense. I think most computer are good enough now as long as some other issues isn't causing problems. My latest purchase (Windows Asus Rog) was horrible I couldn't run anything audio (even YouTube), without spikes and shutdowns. I ended up disabling the switchable graphics and run solely from the Nvidia GPU.

But the latency is so low in Traktor that multicore setting has no effect. On this laptop.

My advice I guess is use multicore if it helps and disable if it doesn't.

I recently got an Macbook pro M1 and I can get 4,7ms latency on the Kontrol Z2 with 64 samples, I cant set the "sample rate" on OS Sequoia, but any latency close to 5ms its fine for me or I will feel it on chirps. but I wonder why I cant go lower? I can lower to 32 samples in Windows or in my old macbook 2012 OS Mojave, but not on the new M1, neither my 2015 MBP OS Monterey.

For normal club sets, I'm currently at 48,000 kHz and 128 samples and I'm fine with that on my MBA wit a M2 Prozessor (with Multicore Support ON). With older Intel based Macs, I always used either 256 or even 512 samples (with Multicore Support OFF). I was always more interested in the average output time, and as long as it was within +/- 10 ms, it felt good to me. For scratching and beat juggling sessions, I go down to 64 on my M2 (with Multicoe Support ON). I don't remember it ever going any lower on Macs. Unfortunately, I can't tell you why that is or what the difference is compared to Windows computers, as I lack the experience. I've always been a Mac user.
