I have a maschine+ and the feature standalone, no pricing for update is gone....
Speaking of me personally, there is no point of paying any amount for the new features i never asked for, but its even more meaningless in case no bugs i (and other forum members) reported were really fixed.
Your sentence doesn't make sense, but there's no cost to update the Maschine+ for Maschine3 compatibility. You do however need a licence for Maschine 3 desktop software (to use 3 on the Plus).
If you have the Maschine+ you do not need to worry about the license, and updates are free. Just put your serial in native access, and njoi
According to all previous provided info my current understanding is that M+ owners should receive this update to version 3 free of charge, and the only license required to buy is for desktop version of Maschine 3 to use it on computer. All answers i see now are either doesnt make sense or too vague. Please clarify: do i need to buy Maschine 3 license to update my M+ to version 3:
A) Yes
B) No
I'm asking because i see 'Your MASCHINE+ is up-to-date' message in Settings/System
Thanks
According to @Jeremy_NI post on the update you need a Maschine 3 license to use new features. Therefore the answer is most likely A) Yes
I think Jeremy's post makes it pretty clear. You need a Maschine 3 license to use Maschine 3 (desktop or standalone). The Plus update is free - if you have the license already, which is most likely to be the case.
If you were still using Maschine 2 (desktop) why would you want to upgrade your Plus to 3?
I dont use desktop version of Maschine at all, so i hope several nasty bugs are fixed in this M+ update. But i'm not sure i have desire to pay just to find out…
Well as user of Maschine+ you are eligible for upgrade pricing. Just have a Maschine Mk3 but the upgrade was pretty much a no brainer at 29€ upon release of the desktop version.
So, Long story short....
The maschine+ update to 3.+ is not for free!
NI you liars! I do not want a pc desktop device. I have it stand alone, and now i need to buy some stupid desktop software to be able to use/update a standalone device (with wifi!).
Not cool. The maschine+ is stuk at version 2, the update including improvements cost money!
See the answers from your community above. So disapointing! Greedy stupidity
I don’t think they are liars. I think that unfortunately they are not very able in the communication game (or… if you want to see it negatively, they ARE able, meaning that they make “unclear” communications in their favor)
When they said “the update will be free for M+ users” I think what they meant was “if you own Maschine 3, you don’t have to pay a second time to have it ALSO on M+”
I know… it’s easy to see it as a not so crystalline move, since 3/4 of the time they do this kind of things… but this time, the way they expressed it could be read in both ways (which… rethinking about it… could prove your point: let’s not be clear, so people will misunderstand… But: why doing it? In any case, sooner or later users will discover they do have to pay…).
In any case, I also have a quite unpopular opinion about this. Updating is not mandatory: the “new features” are something we can easily do without, unless you really need them. If someone do, it’s not unfair to ask for a correct price for the work done to add them (29 bucks is not a big amount to pay for their job).
The “real” problem is when, sooner or later, but most probably sooner, they will force users and make this update practically mandatory, otherwise you will not be able to use your stuff. And NI does this type of things, by releasing updates that force to update other programs, by removing or not renewing compatibility of stuff we own, by hiding the products we paid for or removing the tools to authorize them (unless you force them to do it, but in a very convoluted way, having to write them multiple times and answering to their “it’s not supported anymore” and “it’s an old product, EOL” by showing you know your rights).
These are the kind of stuff I criticize in NI, not if/when they ask for a correct low price for the work done
Yes I'm sure there will come a day when content released for the Maschine+ will require the latest firmware, OS and app versions, just like the desktop software.
This is not exclusive to Native Instruments though. It happens on many products these days. We should all be used to it by now. If you're not using the desktop software though (so not swapping projects back & forth) then unless you really want/need any new NI content for the Plus, it will carry on working as it was.
Again, same story.
The update for maschine+ is NOT free!
Very, disapointing!
WeWe can not update the maschine+ to version 3 without spending money for a desktop software. Also, the promise to support mp3 export, is now false!
We have to pay 30 euro to make it posible to export from the maschine+ in mp3 format.
That was also not the deal!
Native? Lets here something from you guys!
AnAnd even worse. The price of this maschine+ is dropping crasy! It is crashing! This means ther eis a new model and this one is not supported anymore! Thnx NI for being the same as any onther music instrument maker
The upgrade is from Maschine 2 to Maschine 3, and that's a paid upgrade. The main reason for it is compatibility with version 3 of the desktop software……….so if you don't have or want the desktop software, you don't need compatibility.
Akai did a similar thing with their stem separation. You have to pay $10. The fee is for both desktop and standalone (same as NI) but if you don't want/need the desktop software, you still have to pay $10.
That is true
