Missing Samples - BATTERY and SAMPLER when opening in other computer.

Due to my work I have to use two computers, one laptop for work "on field" and a desktop computer for more power demanding process. I work with Logic Pro sessions in a daily basis, opening them in one computer or another.

All my Native libraries work well and are stable in both devices, except for Battery and Sampler. Every time I change, I have to do the process of "search file system" to be able to work again. In the case of Sampler, I don't even have the chace to "search library/filesystem", but I have to load the sample again, if I can recall the name of the sampler.

I have same OS in both devices (Monterey) and same Logic (10.7.9), same Native Access versión and I update everything at the same time, so I don't use to have compatibility problems sharing the session.

But I can't find the workaround for Battery and Samples, every time I have to look for the samples even they are there. Both Logic and KK have full disk access and once done the sarch, I can work. All the rest of the libraries open correctly.

What can I do to solve this? Thanks very much.

The issue you're facing with Battery and Sampler in Logic Pro is likely related to absolute file paths for samples. When you move a Logic session between your laptop and desktop, the software is looking for the samples in a specific location that doesn't exist on the new computer, even if the files are present elsewhere on the disk.

This happens because most software, including Logic and Native Instruments plugins, save the file location as a specific, hard-coded address (e.g., Macintosh HD/Users/YourName/Music/Samples/MySample.wav). Since the user name or drive structure is different on each computer, the plugin can't find the file automatically.

1. Standardize Your File Paths

This is the most effective and long-term solution. You need to make sure the sample libraries for Battery and Sampler are in the exact same folder path on both your laptop and your desktop.

Step 1: Choose a standard location for your samples. A good option is a simple, high-level directory like Macintosh HD/Samples or Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Samples.
Step 2: Manually move or copy all your sample libraries for Battery and Sampler to this new, shared location on both computers.
Step 3: Use Native Access to relocate your libraries to this new, standardized folder.
Step 4: Open your Logic sessions and re-point the missing samples to the new location. After this, all future sessions should open correctly on either machine without needing to relocate the files again.

2. Use an External Drive

Another robust solution is to use a dedicated external drive. Put all your sample libraries on an external SSD or hard drive. Make sure the drive has the same name on both computers. Now, whenever you open a session, as long as the external drive is connected, the samples will be found automatically.

3. Battery-Specific Fix: "Monolith" Kits

For Battery, you can save your kits as a "monolith" file.

Step 1: In Battery, load your kit and use the File > Save Kit As... option.
Step 2: In the save dialog box, check the option to "Save with Samples" or a similar option.
Step 3: This will save the kit and all its associated samples into a single .nbkt file. This file is self-contained, meaning it doesn't reference external file paths. You can now transfer this one file between computers, and the kit will open correctly with all samples intact.

By implementing one of these solutions, you should be able to eliminate the constant need to manually relocate your sample libraries. The "key" is to create a consistent file path for your samples that Logic Pro and Native Instruments can reference correctly on both devices! 😉
