Permanently convert library files from 44.1khz to 96khz ?

I would like to know how to convert the Kontakt library to the desired resolution for faster loading of the instruments, so that this process is not always repeated at length when loading a project? With larger projects this takes forever (<= Kontakt 7).

Unfortunately, the usual method via Kontakt (batch resave, samples in wav, etc.) does not capture the protected instruments, as you cannot access the files. In addition, I have old projects that still work with Kontakt versions < 7, which I would like to leave as they are. If I were to edit and convert them using the normal method, they could only be opened in one version, which is also not helpful. Does anyone have any ideas?

Even if you could (you can't, for the protected files), it is a really bad, bad idea… and for nothing… a real 96khz file, must be recorded (or produced) at that frequency, otherwise is just wasting disc space with double-sized files, were 50% of them, would be just …zeros, empty space 😉

Thanks for your reply and of course you are absolutely right! I'm interested in this resolution because of the good sound in Cubase, sounds really mega. But the problem is already there with a sample rate of 48khz, that's just standard. It's not a small project either, I'm simply uploading my studio with everything I could use quickly, so I can get started immediately with an idea. But ~30 seconds at 44.1 kHz and ~20 contact instruments become ~6 minutes at 48 kHz! That's a long time and I'd like to save that time. But unfortunately Native doesn't offer a usable or even any solution here. By the way, if you first load a 44.1 khz project into Cubase and convert it to 48khz, you save a whopping 3 minutes. If you now want to convert the raw project to any other sample rate, you can do this in no time at all??? I no longer understand this at all. If you shut down cubase and restart it again, then load the 48khz Projekttemplate, it´s ready in 30 sec ??? My wish would be the possibility to load faster, I don't care how :)

Loading times seem to be a law unto themselves, and I'm not sure anybody fully understands them.

I have always assumed that differences in sample rate are dealt with by Kontakt on the fly, and would be very surprised if non-standard samples are actually resampled by Kontakt on loading. When I load 96kHz samples into a Kontakt plugin in a 44.1kHz project (my host programme, which of course sets the project sample rate, is Bidule), the samples appear in the Wave Editor as 96kHz, and I can adjust sample start, sample end etc by sample number, and the sample number I find at 1 sec is 96k. So I'm pretty sure they are loaded into RAM as 96k and no resampling has taken place.

If this is so, it's hard to see how differing sample rates would affect loading times (apart of course from the sheer size of the samples). As you may know, loading time may be greatly reduced if the samples are already present in another instrument, or even if you're reloading pre-existing samples in an instrument that you recently deleted. It's as though organising the samples in memory is what takes the time.

Unless you have a direct line to the NI engineers, I guess EvilDragon would very likely know how this works - perhaps he could give us his advice.
