Does anyone know where I can get a pre 3.18 Native Access installer for Win11?

I have been trying to resolve this issue of failing to install dependencies after accepting to install latest version of Native Access.

Seems like the NTKDaemon or Native Access doesn't work with the latest rollouts of the Windows 11 24H2 updates.

Where can I get a pre 3.18 Windows 11 Native Access installer?
I am having major issues due to this.

Anyone found a realistic workaround.

It didn't work… Same issue.

I have dug deeper yet again.
In the "C:\Program Files\Native Instruments\Native Access\resources\daemon\win" folder there is a file named "NTKDaemon 1.25.0 Setup PC.exe"

The curious thing is, the version I found to follow the "install NTKDaemon manually" process was only version 1.24:

There is also the elevate.exe in the folder (which I presume is supposed temporarily elevate to administrator rights for installing the NTKDaemon. I am wondering if the fact it sees the "wrong" version installed, it attempts to install the "correct version" but for some reason window complains with the Native Access tool and refuses to run it.

I will now uninstall NTKDaemon 1.24.1.0 and run the NI Uninstall RegTool_64bit.exe for Native Access (again…) and then install this 1.25 version.
Maybe that will fix this weird problem.

1.24.1 Uninstalled.
Ran the Uninstall reg tool but no entry showing for NTKDaemon. Also noticed Native Access not listed there despite it being installed (yet failing inside with dependency install issues).

I also noticed that in services.msc that the uninstall removed the NTKDaemonService
but there was still a NTKDaemon in the list.

I checked the files it was pointing to, did not exist.

So I ran sc delete "NTKDaemon" in a admin Command Prompt and that is now gone.
Time to install 1.25 (as admin)

So my reasoning works. For some strange reason, the Native Access could not correctly launch the 1.25 version of the NTKDaemon. I couldn't find that version online but it IS installed as mentioned above.

So if you have the same issue as me. This is something worth trying.
Perhaps someone can even push this across to the dev team (if they know them) so it can be investigated properly?

Hello,

3.19 works on my win 11 system (latest update) just fine as the older version did too. Do you get some kind of error message if you try to install it. Do you have admin rights or start the installer as admin?

I did get an error. Basically I was prompted to update (maybe a month or two since I had used it). I could see there was some updates etc. Looked like it was working find.

I accepted the update (why wouldn't I') and when it installed, on reloading it got stuck on the dependencies and I got a Windows Blue box error saying the software was not for this device.

I have never had problems like this before on this system. It's normally my stable studio system so it's quite worrying as to why it would suddenly not work. I have no other symptoms or issues on the system except complaints relating to Bonjour (which pop up when my iLok is called, I presume).

My behaviour or use of the system has not changed, so why does it now have a permissions issue to install dependencies. I have checked and the c++ x64 and x86 distributables seem ok.

And NTKDaemon is installed but seems to not start properly. No error log messages.

Any help would be appreciated. I really don't want to have to start my "Komplete" NI library and VST setup again…

Oh and I have tried installing and running Native Access (and the manually NTKDaemon) both as a normal user and as admin. I have launched NA as normal user and admin too.

I have checked and the c++ x64 and x86 distributables seem ok.

'Checking' is not enough , sometimes these problems are due to defect MS VC++ which then have to be uninstalled and reinstalled or at least repaired (sometimes all of them.)

Can you maBe try to use those two commands in the cmd.exe app.

I then rebooted my PC.
Ran Native Access as Admin.

Same problem. What I don't understand is why it would complain about an app version which is clearly designed to run on Windows…

Have you disabled any of the new security features? This is the current state of the security:

Smart App control is off: (I think the feature must have been added after my clean install)

Beyond Windows 11 having an issue with your installation tool, I cannot see what else can be wrong. It worked before upgrading to this latest version - which means it worked one moment, update ran, didn't work after.

As nothing else changed in that short window of time, it would point to something has changed in the way the later Native Access installation (and it's dependencies) are installed. I cannot tell you the previous version of Native Access that I had installed, I don't run it only a weekly basis.

What else can I do?

Is manual updates of software updates still possible? How will I even know when there is an update…

I have been using Native Instrument Komplete since before Komplete 6 (and own hardware too) and this has been my worst experience with the installer side.

Is my licenses dependent on this Native Access software working? I have 100+ Cubase 13-14 projects (songs) and they all have a large dependency on my NI software that I own actually working…

I cannot check immediately but I will look at your links etc. to see if they are related.

I can tell you already that I have .net 8 framework, not 9 installed.

I will dig deeper later… (we shouldn't need to be this Windows savvy to install software, I have dev and support experience and this one has stumped me).

Maybe we need to add a pre-req to purchasing the products "University Diploma in IT" (which I actually have… ;-) ).

The app installer should handle all software dependency and clashes…

Wow this is a really crazy thing, and normally native access works, here on 3 computers two with windows 11 all the latest updates, and one older win 10 computer, I only use rarely for trying things out. Maybe it's better to ask support they have a tool where they can analyze your computer and see what's going on, better what's not. But please try @PoorFellows stuff before. If I had to guess I would say it's an issue with the redist packages. I can have a look on my computer what version(s) I have installed and report it here.

Alas then Native Access is a special case because N.I. consider it a cornerstone app and require it to always be updated to latest version for the OS so what official downloads that are available is very limited , I don't have any official download links to older Native Access that is newer than 3.8.1 , and N.A. is not found on the new page Account downloads ( ref. : How to use the NI Download Manager) .

I myself have several newer N.A. PC versions on drive but I am not sure that N.I. would approve of me sharing and also I would have to use some file sharing service to do so , so not really something that I am very interested in doing.

I installed the full set of redist (I found an all in one package, very handy) and now I have the exact same list as you, newly installed. I also installed .net framework 9 (as recommended in an earlier post).

Still the same error.

I did check my services and there is something odd (I did install the manual NTKDaemon package recommended):

Now I have no clue why I would have an NTKDaemon and the NTKDaemon when the link you shared only mentiones the NTKDaemonService (which is not even running).

As a test I will disable the first and start the second then launch Native Access again.
A lot of work for a pushed automatic update…😅

Generally then the only way of getting something to the N.A. team is to report it to support. As far as I know then the N.A. team is not in the habit of taking advice from the forum. Even when Hayo_NI were here he told me to contact support.

With respect to your 'solution' then here is the problem seen from my side. You report all the way through having done what needed to be done :

Then how can I suggest that you uninstall and manually re-install when you already told me that you have done that ? In this forum then we are not at peoples computers and we rely on what people tell us as having done. So when it came in to my mind that you needed to uninstall and re-install then I discarded it because you had already done that.

To be absolutely clear, before I even came to the forum I spent a good half day working on the problem via NI's official support pages.

The latest available NTK is the 1.24.1.0 via the NI website for manual install. Which is what I referred to before even coming to the forum. So I was (regrettably) expecting the official support articles to be somehow kept up to date 😉
