Hi friends,

I purchased an S4 MK2 secondhand. The previous owner never used it and is unsure if it works. When plugged into my Mac and/or the wall power source, all buttons light up for two seconds and then only the 'Master' light remains glowing.

I downloaded Mixxx (since I am brand new to mixing) and am able to see my controller in the software.

I can play music from the laptop through the controller and out speakers connected to the controller. I can also adjust the volume on master controls on the controller but no other buttons glow or seem to affect the music in any way when I play with them.

Confirmed firmware is up to date.

Please help! I'm desperate and becoming very discouraged. :(

Try the traktor demo, just to see if the controller works.

For mixxx you would need midi mode. It's a button combination, search for it, NI has an article about activating midi mode. Might need some NI background process. That's why installing the demo might be a good idea.

According to the Mixxx manual S4 Mk2 is compatible and should work in HID mode without switching to MIDI mode.

The hint with Traktor demo is a good idea. Here it should work if it isn't broken.

Ah, good catch. And there is also no driver for mac, so I assume it should just work. Not sure what else it could be.
