Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with Traktor Pro 4 that’s been making it really frustrating to DJ with a DVS setup. I’ve contacted Native Instruments support, but their answer didn’t really help – so I’d love to hear if anyone else has experienced something similar or found a workaround.
My Setup:
- MacBook Pro with M4 Pro chip
- macOS Sequoia
- Traktor Pro 4.2
- Traktor Audio 6 (using Core Audio driver)
- 2x Technics 1210 turntables
- Analog mixer
- Timecode vinyl
- Tested with several USB-C adapters (UGREEN, Anker, etc.)
The Problem:
When I adjust the pitch fader on the turntables, the audio response is immediate and accurate – but the visual update in Traktor (BPM display, waveform, phase meter, etc.) lags behind by about half a second. This makes beatmatching by eye (or doing fast corrections) really difficult and imprecise.
What I’ve Tried So Far:
- Switched USB adapters
- Increased sample rate (88,200 and 96,000 Hz)
- Adjusted buffer sizes
- Followed all Mac tuning tips from the NI support article
- Tested both Absolute and Relative Timecode modes
→ No improvement.
NI Support Response:
Support told me this is “expected behavior” – the visual display in Traktor is intentionally delayed to reduce CPU load.
They even said that unless I can prove it behaved differently in older versions, there’s nothing to escalate.
The problem is: I can’t access my old setup anymore. After a fresh install, I couldn’t reactivate Traktor Pro 1, so I was forced to upgrade – which also meant upgrading my OS and hardware. My old Audio 8 DJ interface doesn’t work with modern macOS either.
Why This Is So Frustrating:
With my old setup (Traktor Pro 1, Audio 8 DJ, MacBook 2009), the visual feedback was much smoother and more responsive – despite being ancient hardware.
Now, with top-tier modern equipment, I’m getting worse performance visually. The sound is tight and reacts instantly – the issue is purely on screen.
My friend uses a Roland DJ-202 controller with Traktor 4, and it runs perfectly smooth – so this seems to affect DVS users specifically.
❓Has anyone else experienced this?
- Is this a known issue with Traktor 4 and DVS on Apple Silicon?
- Is there any way to fix or reduce the visual latency?
- Is the DVS display in Serato or Rekordbox more responsive?
I’ve been a loyal Traktor user for years and don’t want to switch, but this kind of limitation is tough to accept – especially since modern Apple hardware is easily capable of smooth visual performance.
Thanks in advance for any tips or shared experiences!
Best regards
