Linux Support Please

Guys, I have the entire library of native instruments and I love it. Its all I use. But I am not going to be using windows for long. I need to go to linux. I already got reaper and I'm ready to move on. The only thing that's holding me back in windows 11 is native instruments. Tho I have seen people running NI in linux, you have to go out of your way to make everything work correctly, which is a hassle for me. To much things to do and I am still learning linux. Please release native instruments in linux.

This would be an amazing thing. Especially now that Linux made it to the 5% mark this year. Let's face it windows is not what it used to be and people are moving away from it. Especially since steamos made almost every game playable in linux and games do run better in steamos. Yes, linux beats windows in gaming performance in 2025. My daughter has the same hardware configuration I have and she has steamos and all her games perform better in steamos. I never though I would see this day come. We are here. So, please how about some support for linux?

Does NI works on linux? I am living windows for linux and I wanted to know. If yes, which distro would be the best. I am planning to go with Nobara. If not, please, you should support linux. Especially now that windows business practice is getting ridicules.

i would not expect this to happen, even if this would be cool, you are also not the first one asking for this. Native really has some other issues to fix first - but who knows…….

There have been a number of discussions regarding using NI libraries on Linux and the distro and tricks involved so you might want to do a search and see what you can find. I highly doubt NI could make a reasonable business decision to support Linux because the market size is so limited and the cost of production would be so high.

Personally I'd think carefully about this decision given that even if you could get it working there will be no support if something doesn't work correctly. That might be okay if NI is just a passing interest for you, but if it's a significant part of what you depend on you might be hosed.

oh well, I might have to wait a little longer with windows. Because I have the entire package from NI and I'm not going to stop using that any time soon. But, please, think about supporting linux. Microsoft's future is not looking good. The moment I see that spyware Recall become mandatory I am uninstalling it for good, no matter what. At the moment I can disable it. But, if not, I'll figure out how to run NI on linux. I will not support Recall.

MS will be just fine. And so will Windows.

And no one will ever be exposed to Recall unless they purchase a Copilot+PC.

On Linux - without a sea change in actual usage, sea change in potential revenue opportunities and even bigger - a massive change by NI to support it - will never be a thing.

Plugins and samples would run ofc, if they didn't make it mandatory to download their bloatware of a download manager to download the actual files you paid for :) Just wanna voice my disdain for this here again.

the only thing thats giving microsoft the power they have is gaming and gaming is shifting towards linux. 2025 linux beats windows in gaming performance thanks to steamos. People are moving away from windows to linux now more than ever including PewDiePie, look up his video called "Why I switched to linus and why you should to". . . linux hit the 5% mark this year. We, musicians don't dictate where windows is heading, gamers do and I happen to be one and everyone in my household has a pc built by me with steamos installed just for gaming and when I test the games against mine with same hardware mine gets crushed by the pc's running steamos. It is time to start supporting linux, if not soon. But, the shift is inevitable.

As has been mentioned numerous times in this forum, that 5% isn't representative at all of the Linux market for Native Instruments or even the market for people using DAWs. With that small of a market it would take years to even recover the development cost not to mention cost of maintenance and upgrades. Windows and Apple aren't going away. Particularly when u consider the size and scope of the Windows market in large corporations with hundreds of thousands of desktop users and multi-million dollar backroom Windows server farms. Not to mention the literal army of Microsoft experienced software engineers in the marketplace making them a relatively cheap asset in a development environment.

Don't be taken in by the relatively small market of desktop users running complex applications like this.
