How to sample a synth sound from Battery 4
I'm new to Maschine and only recently purchased a MK3.
I did not purchase this for drum programming as i hate finger drumming and moreover my drums require absolute perfect precision and alignment so these tasks are always undertaken within a DAW on a large screen.
I bought this solely as a sampler and was hoping that for my needs everything could be done through the supplied USB cable without the need for additional external cables.
There is one synth sound that is included within one of the drum kits in Battery 4 which I want to sample and place it at different notes across all 16 pads on Maschine.
This should surely be a simple, couple of button presses, job done type scenario ? But the reality is, it's not !! I can't even get Maschine to recognise the audio/source (Battery 4)
Surely if I wish to sample a sound that originates from within my DAW and Maschine is connected to my DAW there should be no need for any other cables other than the supplied USB cable ? Surely it should be easy for Maschine to recognise the source ? I have been taking samples from various bits of hardware since the late 80's and none have been as frustrating as this.
Can some one please shed some light on this issue for me otherwise I will be forced to dust off my old Akai S950 to get the job done in a few seconds.
Starting to think I should sell this little headache and grab Serrato Sample for a stress free journey.

Thanks PK the DJ and UWE303.
Both suggestions have helped solve my issue.
I do have Battery loaded on a track and Maschine on another track. However, thanks to your assistance i have now discovered how to load the sound required directly from Battery to Maschine. Easy when know how 🙂
Thanks again Guys, really appreciate your quick responses 🙏

Have you read the manual?

I'd suggest making a note of the file name of the sound used by that particular Battery kit, then load that sample directly in to Maschine so you can play it in keyboard mode.

Hello,
this is one way to do it:
Normally you can also look for the sample loaded in battery and use this directly, if you know the expansion/library where it's from, you will find it faster.
Or do you have battery loaded in your DAW and maschine on another track?

Battery is not meant for melodic playing of samples, use the Maschine Sampler.
It's simpler…
- Click the Pencil icon in Battery to enter Edit Mode
- Bellow the Battery cells click the folder icon next the the file-name and it will focus the browser on it.
- Right-click the sample on the browser and select 'Find in Finder/File Explorer'
- Drag the sample from your OS file-browser to a Maschine Pad and enable Keyboard Mode.
Generally all samplers have a way to go directly to a samples path via your OS-file browser.
