Keyboard connection Problem

Hi. I updated my master keyboard from a Kontrol S88 MK1 to a MK3 over a year ago and then about 6 months ago I updated my Mac OS to 15.5 Sequoia and no matter what I do nowq it will not connect to my Reason 13 Software. All my firmware and software updates are up to date and still no joy. I'm starting to get extremely frustrated as I've spent so much money on software and hardware and cannot speak to anyone that will help. The keyboard light are all flashing with the message Default Midi Template on the keyboard screen. I hope someone can help me please. Thanks. Franksy.

You mention two different keyboard models but does not say specifically which model that you are having the problem with. Despite it being unnecessary to mention the MK1 if that was not the one that you are having the problem with re-attaching then I will still go with as if it is the MK3 .
If you are using a MK3 then the following is a good place to start :
Quote Matthew_NI :
Also make sure that the Hardware Connection Service is running and that the Kontrol MK3 can see it. Note that the hardware connection service should be started automatically when you open Komplete Kontrol software for example.
You can verify that the Kontrol Mk3 is connected to the HCS by going to Settings > general > agent version on the device, it should say version 1.9.4 (or higher ?) . If it doesn't, try a different USB-C cable, and/or a USB-C hub instead of connecting directly.
Lastly, I see you are on an M1. It is possible the next message applies to you (but please follow the steps above first):
USB-C Connectivity Issue:
Problem:
Some computer chip sets made between 2020 and 2023 have a known USB-C error that can't be fixed. This can cause sporadic problems with USB-C peripherals like the Kontrol S MK3, including connection failures, freezing, or issues with firmware updates.Solution:
If you experience these issues, try using a USB-C hub between your Kontrol S MK3 and your computer. This can help avoid the problem and ensure a stable connection. This is critically important during firmware updates, as data loss could cause broken firmware. Make sure the hub supports both power and data transfer..
Be sure to be using latest version of Native Access for your OS

@Franksy What do you mean by "connecting" to Reason 13? FYI there is no host integration for Reason, or do you mean you can't choose the Kontrol mk3 as a MIDI input? Or it's not connecting when you load a Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt plug-in in Reason?
What happens if you open Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Is everything functional? Can you browse, load, play and control a preset? What MIDI ports have you selected as input there?

P.S.
As expressed by Jeremy then for your keyboard not to be in Midi mode then you have to open either Komplete Kontrol (V. 3.x.x) or Kontakt7/8 (as either stand-alone or plugin) to use the keyboard 'Direct Connection' and and if using plugin then also have the track selected where the KK/Kontakt 7/8 plugin is open in.
Reason and other DAWs them selves without Komplete Kontrol or Kontakt 7/8 plugin use does not support the direct connection.
