Please see the video. Thx!
Hey @CakeAlexS FYI, the bug was filed under the reference (MAS2-30433) and forwarded to the devs.
I think this may be a windows issue as I’m not getting it on my Mac , I have two monitors, I only use one in maschine
Kinda wish they could get rid of the overlay , and let us browse from the actual browser , when you load a sound the browser closes, I find that annoying when trying to scroll through presets without using audition
yes resolution and multimonitor can have the weird effect on showing & positioning of windows.
it is something you just need to be aware of…
and becos there are so many configurations that can be had of both resolution and multi monitors, the expectation for this to be fixed in any useful way…is a big ask
hard to say ..what you could do as a workaround, trial and error i guess
good luck!
if the browser window had a mind of its own….
it would be thinking…im not hanging around here.. catch you up later LOL
Over decades I've run thousands of apps, closed and reopened probably millions of windows on all sorts of monitor setups.
This is the only time I've ever seen this behaviour. I don't think it's a big ask at all to fix this to be honest. They just haven't coded it correctly.
Is the popup browser unique to the Jam, as I've never seen that before?
With the software alone, using F4 just opens the browser on the left. Using Maschine+ as a controller doesn't do it either.
In normal usage, this is not something you'd be doing anyway - repeatedly pressing browser on/off. In that respect it's probably never been noticed because nobody's ever sat there with a Jam, pressing the same button over and over. 🙂
yeah it’s unique to jam
does it do it , if you load a preset and then reopen the browser over and over
What about the arp. / scale/ chord overlay
we all have the choice… fully diagnose the problem down to its root cause… and then look for a work-arounds or alternative solutions….
all fine and well, …making a post "Maschine Jam - and it's gone..." perhaps the tag BUG mightve been added, for some attention…
all said… i recall a statement made by NI about the maschine Jam no longer getting support..
so what are we to read into that??
whats that quote from lord of the rings??
Look for your friends, but do not trust to hope. It has forsaken these lands
I've literally pressed the browse button two or three times and then I can't find the window. Sometimes it goes to the right, sometimes it goes diagonally to the right.
What you see here in the video is a demonstration to show what happens, I think it's pretty clear. It's been a lot worse sometimes depending on where the starting position is (that initial position appears pretty random, or it's probably down to a number of other factors I can't fathom, and I think it's pretty pointless to find out unless I'm a developer trying to fix this).
Yes it is very much a real world situation and yes this is unique to the Jam controller.
Did I say it was the end of the world? No Did I say I cannot work around it? Nope. So please don't exaggerate my position on this. This certainly is a bug that needs fixing,.but please.. don't shoot the messenger.
It's certainly not a major bug, but then it's not a tiny trivial one either imho. I also don't think this would be a particular hard bug to fix either.
BTW there is no such thing as "normal usage", everybody does things slightly different. What's normal to you may not be normal for somebody else.
Anyway, all I'm looking for here is a bunch of the Jam users to confirm "yeah I've got that too" rather than some sort of psycho analysis of my state of mind thanks. And once I get that I'll be off on my merry way and create a ticket with NI.
I can't believe I've demonstrated a simple and clear bug that shows that a window does not remain the same place as it should, and then some people have lost their minds about it, even resorting to film quotes, but hey ho. I'll just get on with making music in the meantime.
I'll check when I next get to play with it th, in the meantime others may want to try to repro (should be pretty straightforward for other jam users).
ran some tests on my maschine Jam… pressing the browse to bring forward the window..
it remains put… and doesnt move
tried on a multiple screens.. and shifting the application to different monitor etc
the browse window stay put…
the differences is im using MACOS 1920x 1080p & wireless extended display 2732 x 2048 ipad
tested on both maschine 2.18 and maschine 3.2 versions as well
…so it would seem odd that others have not reported the issue highlighted,
as such it might be pointing to something on your end… for example your curved widescreen monitors resolution… scaling or something related to your displays settings
test on a different monitor without the curved widescreen monitor connected… retest with it the curved widescreen connected and so forth… isolating the problem requires testing on your end
Have you tried 60Hz refresh rate, if your monitor is set to higher one?
No way of testing for the next 3 or 4 days.
So I guess I'm looking for Windows Jam users to validate this (3.2) now.
"some people have lost their minds about it"
Nobody's lost their mind, or been psychoanalysing anything. We've just responded to the limited info in your initial post.
The title didn't really describe the issue, the text in the post only said "see the video", and the video was you repeatedly pressing the same button. The first post didn't contain the info you've now provided, about the other ways it behaves.
Now we have that info, so thank you. 👍️

Never saw such a post. Quite the contrary: Every time someone asked, either the managers or the devs confirmed there are no plans to dump support for the JAM.
