Hercules DJControl Compact mapping and scratch capability

Is it possible to scratch with Hercules DJControl Compact Controller while the deck is playing? According to the controller's manual yes. But the reality is that the mapping provided for Traktor will not allow me to do so. It will only allow me to temporarily speed up or slow down the song via the platter as long as the song is playing (regardless of whether scratch mode button is active or not). Scratching is only possible while the song is paused. How can I configure the Traktor mapping so it allows for scratching while a song is playing?

In case it is not possible to accomplish my goal: Which of these two controllers has the capability for scratching while a song is playing with Traktor: Numark DJ2GO2 or Hercules DJControl Starlight?

Unfortunately this forum will not allow me post links yet (to controller's manual and traktor mapping which can be found on Hercules site)

    Hello,

if you look in the manual of the traktor mapping the scratch button is not mapped. You could try mappings from DJTT (DJ techtools) website. But of course it should be possible to scratch with that device with the correct mapping unfortunatly i´m not experienced enough to do it without the device in front of me or wasting hours to try. Maybe someone else with more experience can help.

@Uwe303 thank you for the reply. what to do you mean by "manual of the traktor mapping"? Do you mean the mapping setting in Traktor so the tsi file provided by Hercules? Which functionality of Traktor has to be mapped to the jogwheel and scratch button to make it work?

I have downloaded the 1.0 mapping for that controller for traktor and in the compressed file there is a PDF too explaining the mapping. I can't tell you for sure that it will work if you add the scratch button as a 5th modifier (4 modifiers are already set as far as I can see in the mapping) and then adding the modifier as condition to set platter touch as stop, release play again, and while the platter is touched turning the platter will scratch. Tomorrow I have some time then I can maybe have a second look and help you with this - I can't promise that it will work in the end, I can just try.

    P.S. i think i found a way

I think the key is not adding a modifier, the key is to take away the modifier from the play status, and put this modifier on the scratch button.

@Uwe303 I configured the scratch button to act as one of the modifiers. Then I configured "Jog stop" for the jog wheel Midi message if the scratch button modifier is set to "1". But now if scratch button modifier is active and I touch/move the jog wheel the only thing that happens is that the track completely stops even if jog wheel is released. Is my configuration faulty or is it due to the fact that maybe the hardware does not have a touch sensitive jog wheel?

Yes you are right, i just assumed it cause it´s mapped but the midi manual of that device only states the jogwheels as encoders, not as touch sensitive. You would need a DJTOGO2 Touch. And on top Jog touch is mapped to the cue button if modifier 1 is 1 but that modifier is not mapped.
