Stem file generation crashiness

I understand that NI has reliability issues with stem generation, which is why they are not making it easy to queue up lots of tracks at once. I am looking to generate stems for 2k files. Initially I was able to do batches of 100. Now I am down to batches of 20 (with a restart after I am done). If I do 30-40 I frequently get OSX crashes and a full on reboot. But what is even more frustrating is that all the stems generated in that session are lost. Not even checking for consistency fixes it. Why is Traktor unable to find those files in the file system? Isn't the algorithm they use for the file names deterministic?

What is worse is that all these hard crashes are making me uneasy to ever generate stems during a set. But my DJ style is accommodating track wishes but I am never going to be able to generate stems for my entire 10k collection. It is really puzzling that the 4.2 release didn't bring any improvement here. If you are unable to get this working, why not collaborate with NuoStems to allow them to link the stem files to the original sources?
