Sampling Setup

I'm looking to sample audio directly from my back into the machine plus hardware. I have a splitter running from the line in 1 and 2 in the back of the machine with the other end running into the 3.5mm jack on the back of my Mac Studio. I have my headphones running via a splitter from into L & R line out jacks on the back of the machine for monitoring sound. I'm lost now on the preferences within machine, the input output sound settings on the Mac and the sampling settings on the machine plus. Please help. thank you

    It’s all a little bit confused…

I’ll try to make an example setup to see if that’s what you’re after:

    • Use the Y cable to run audio out from Mac jack to M+ inputs on the back.
    • Plug your headphones in M+ Phones plug (why using Line out?)
    • Go in Maschine audio settings. Select Internal L and Internal R as ports for Maschine In 1 L and Maschine In 1 R
    • Go in the sampling page, select Source Ext. Ster., In 1 as Input and turn on Monitor.

At that point you should have your Mac signal coming in and visible in the Meters

I use L/R out because the AirPods Max only play mono for some reason when plugged into the machine plus. this way I'm gettin g stereo sound when monitoring. The other pic shows where the source of the sample is coming from. I tried the confirguration you suggested but I don't see any way form appearing on the sampler in machine and no audio being monitored through the headphones. This is also the case if I plug them in to the headphone jack on the machine plus.

Ok. A couple of basic things: are you sure audio is coming out from the Mac Headphones plug? And…I cannot see it from the picture, but… is input gain knob on the back of the Maschine raised up?

I notice now a couple more things: you have an usb cable plugged into M+ but no power cable. And the power button is red.

Are you even using it in Standalone?

Input gain knob is about 75-80%, I was trying the it via controller mode as well. Currently the USB cable is not plugged in the power button is green. I can see on the sample page that sound is being registered by machine but nothing playing in the headphones when monitoring. Doesn't matter if the headphones are plugged in the headphones jack or split into the L&R output jacks.

How are the audio outputs set up?

Are you sure “Monitor” is on in sampling page? (It’s in the 3rd page).

I see that now at least the signal is coming in… we are doing steps forward 👍🏼
