Make sure the Release Notes menu item points to an actual UPDATED and CURRENT rundown of what was done on the software update!!!!

The latest 3.18.0 points to an entry on this forum with the latest entry for 3.17.0 from January 29th. Embarrassingly amateurish folks……

Well… at my workplace (and I suppose at the vaste majority of workplaces), if one person is on holiday another person covers his work. It’s not that difficult.

It would be nice if we could say “well…the person doing that job is on holiday so the job will not be done”.

And…if having a couple of guys at Superbooth is blocking a big company like NI in doing very simple tasks… well… in that case we're really in troubles 😶

@Mert_NI @Jeremy_NI @Kaiwan_NI Guys, with all due respect, but how is this possible that after a week there's still no patch notes for the most recent update you've released? This is really kind of amateurish approach and shows some lack of integrity. Even if there is little to no changes that consumer could find interesting, it is no excuse for the lack of such information. :(

While I have your attention, I propose a small QoL - allow us to create custom tags for our own needs. Example - I'm working on a vastly different genres (classic orchestral, future industrial, electronic etc) and the ability to put our favorite presets into genre-specific categories would be something really speeding up the workflow for us, composers. It's really hard to keep up if your library consists of >13k of presets, and you don't always want to filter by the Type or Character, especially that some presets do not fit these categories well enough.

I believe that there might be a problem that is causing a delay in this particular case. Also then if you do a headcount then you will see that more people have been absent today. I am not privy to most details and what little I know I can not share.

On top of the other stuff then I also found out that Native Instruments were at SUPERBOOTH25 in Berlin (Booth h130) which most likely has diverted a lot of energy from N.I. staff towards this effort.

In a perfect world, every job task has multiple people who can do that task. But in the real world, where we have to deal with labor law, copyright law, contracts left, right, and above our heads, and budgets and payroll to meet, and people out of the office for one reason or another, that's not always so.

It would be nice if we could say “well…the person doing that job is on holiday so the job will not be done”.

Sometimes I actually had to do that. Yes, in a fortune 500 company with private and government contracts! If I had an SME (subject matter expert) put in for 2 weeks to visit his family in Thailand, I'm not going to call him while he's flying over China. He won't have his laptop ANYWAY. Plus, there are labor laws around the world that affect what you can and cannot ask of an employee.

Things never happen one-at-a-time, anyhow. I once had 3 people out of the office for medical leave. Heart problem here, a brain concussion there, and oh this other person here has covid. Add to that, the person who's out for training, and the other two that are taking vacation that they asked for 6 months ago, and yeah…I might NOT be able to meet all customer requests. If I'm lucky, we've done a good job of giving accurate time-to-finish estimates, so every customer gets what they asked for by their need-by date.

But not sooner than their need-by date. And maybe I can't help them with spur-of-the-moment desires, either. Sorry, I'm not a magician!

I don't think NI is all that "big". But regardless, this audio and digital music instrument industry is a hard one to make money in, even in a good year! So they probably all run a tight, somewhat understaffed ship. If those guys are scheduled to be at Superbooth, they're going to be there, even if one of their other technicians at the home office had a softball accident in his game last Saturday, and another had to have a heart stent installed on Sunday so she wouldn't die.

Hitshay appenshay, as the saying goes. You do your best, and you try not to stress too much on things that are ultimately outside of your control.

In the real world, we are talking about writing a 7 lines post (4 “Added” and 3 “Fixed”) …

Probably a work that took 5 minutes (if in the meanwhile they also went in the kitchen to turn on the machine for doing a coffee… otherwise 2 minutes were more than enough)…

And a work that also the last of the intern that usually is assigned to just make the mentioned coffee for the others would be able to do, since it consists in just copying the 7 lines that the people who released the update wrote down for him…
