2FA authentication

Hi there!

I'm not entirely sure if I'm asking this at the right place, but I couldn't find a better fit - apologies, if I made a mistake.

So my question is if there's a chance introducing two factor authentication of for the NI user account? Personally I would feel safer if this could be implemented and could be enabled.

Many thanks in advance for your consideration.

    Hey @Sityi, thanks for asking.

Two factor authentication is something obviously highly considered for the future. However we cannot commit to a timeline yet regarding this. We'll definitely inform every user once this is available though πŸ”

    Hi Nico,

another 3 months have passed by. Any update on this?

Phising-Emails and Spear-Phishing is becoming more and more popular within the world of Cybercrime.

And our NI-Accounts carry quite some substantial value.

Might be good feature, if it is voluntary. Some users, including me, would like it, for others it might be too much.

I have several thousands EUR value on my accout, better protection would be handy...

Oh boy, please, no. I'm getting so annoyed that everything is secured like Fort Knox, and I have to authorize again and again and again, even though I ALWAYS check "Remember me", and I'm the only one using this computer.

Please, if then, only optional. I'm really sick and tired of computer security which locks me out again and again, just because some people stay logged into their bank accounts on internet cafΓ© computers. Software doesn't have to be secure like Fort Knox. No, no, no.

@chk071 I agree with you that it should be optional. However, 2FA is helpful for when you get compromised in any way. Someone hacks your email account and gone is your stuff. Best to have some sort of security mechanism in place than none at all…

Whenever possible, I use 2FA and a mobile authenticator. Yes, it's a hassle, but being on the safe side weights more - especially when a lot of money is involved.

2FA is great, for security critical stuff. Is opening Native Access really security critical?

You have to login the first time you use it anyway. And, after that, it's really only for installing and activating stuff. I really can't see how it would justify securing it like Fort Knox.

Logging into NI's website is another thing, as you can, for example, create keys to transfer your software licenses etc. But, even that shouldn't be secured like Fort Knox…

Apologies for repeating the same comparison again and again, but, that's really what it feels like. Really tiring to authorize againd and again, when you're sitting on your home computer, and you're the only person using it. And that even after the hundredth time you checked "Remember me"…

It's not my fault that some people are their own biggest security issue.
