Kontakt 8.3.0 broke my working VSTs

I had loaded VSTs working. I upgrade to Kontakt 8.3.0 and these VSTs are now loading empty inside Kontakt. What kind of upgrade system is this? Or am I doing something wrong?

Ok that is what I mean. My custom libraries were working and after upgrade the Kontakt has unloaded them.

    Just your custom ones?

That's odd - mine are still there - what do you see when you open the import window?

Actually it's a library that is installed via Native Access by entering the serial number. It just loads empty, meaning I don't know which preset I was using in the library for example. This track was previously freezed in Ableton, could that have something to do with it?

I wouldn't have thought it would actually affect Kontakt's library. Although when you freeze a track it does unload the plugin so that is probably why it won't show you the actual preset. But if the library is also missing can you try reinstalling it through Native Access?

I could try, I don't know why that should help though.

To put it back in the Kontakt library?

It was already there though. The Kontakt upgrade made it so that it Kontakt unloaded it for some reason?

Ok I thought you said it was missing. So if it's missing from your Ableton track that's probably because a frozen track removes the plugin

But the issue is when i UN-freeze the track, the plugin should be there. Which is what I did, and the plugin is not there anymore. Usually this works fine. But I think we are getting somewhere in that this only affects freezed plugins

So if Kontakt is upgraded after unfreezing the plugin is no more loaded

Ok that should not happen - maybe there is a bug, try and downgrade Kontakt and see if it works after that

OP: We need some clarity here - how old was this frozen project and what version of Kontakt was originally in it?

Cause what it sounds like to me is…

"I had some "other" version Kontakt loaded (and frozen) in this project in the past - now I go to unfreeze it and it is NOT loaded in K 8.3.0.

There are several possible reasons for this - IF the Kontakt instance was not a v8 variant. (8.1, 8.2 etc)

Do I have this right - or am I missing more info here?

No it is very up to date project, only 1 month old. All the system is up to date Native Access is has no updates pending. Old Kontakt was version 8.2 or whatever that exact version was.

And I just upgrade my Kontakt to latest version. And when I unfreeze my plugin, it is no more loaded. This should not be happening, as it is a very common thing to un-freeze a track and work on it, and freeze again to save CPU resources. That a Kontakt upgrade breaks a frozen track's ability to unfreeze, should not be happening. It's a major issue.

Agreed. As long as the frozen version was an 8.x variant - unfreezing it should be fine.

Could have stumbled on a bug here. I would get a ticket into support.
