Updates have become an absolute mess...

I work on Mac M1 with Sequoia and I use Ableton and work with Komplete 10 still. What started with a sustain pedal adjustment has turned into full on updates, re-routing, a complete nightmare, which now my Komplete S88 Mk2 is not being recognized.

I updated Komplete Kontrol and managed to get most everything updated with the exception of Etheral Earth and Hybrid Keys. I am aware that it needs Kotakt 7, which is installed.

More importantly I need my keyboard to WORK. I have tried rescanning in Ableton and making sure all the routing is proper. I'm at a complete loss and after all too many forums< I'm not feeling hopeful about Natives costumer service response as they don't seem to make it easy to access them either. SO PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO GO TO THEM. ONLY ANSWER if you think you have some sort of solution. I at my wits end. THIS has thus far costed me 5 days of trouble shooting and I'm missing important sounds in a very important piece of work.

my Komplete S88 Mk2 is not being recognized

Are you sure that your keyboard is MK2 ? Your profile only says "Komplete Kontrol ss88" (MK1 ?) which does not support Komplete Kontrol 3.x.x

Well @ahartford5 Sorry to hear you struggled for so long. You could have reached out to support before making these assumptions. The chatbot is only the entry door, either the chatbot answers your question or your case is forwarded to a chat agent and if no one's available at that time, it's turned into an email request and you get a notification, until an agent gets back to you. Let's try a few things first:

First thing we would recommend is to make sure everything is working as expected in Komplete Kontrol in standalone. If not, follow these steps: My Komplete Kontrol Keyboard Does Not Start

Make sure that all your NI applications like Native Access, Kontakt & Komplete Kontrol, as well as Ableton have full disk access: How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

Regarding ethereal Earth & Hybrid keys, what verrsion of Kontakt is installed on your system? Have you tried to open Kontakt in standalone and see if the libraries show up?

"More importantly I need my keyboard to WORK"

While I understand the frustration - if you do not want to use NI support on this - my first strong suggestion is you try a return to Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 - Strip KKv3 off and install clean.

And tell us exactly which keyboard you have. As Poorfellow notes - if it's MK1 - your only recourse is my suggestion above.

I appreciate all your responses. I'll do my best to answer without writing a novel. In hindsight, keeping a log of everything I’ve done so far would have been helpful, at this point, it feels like forensics. Native Access > Ableton > Mac, etc.

To PoorFellow – I'm not sure what you can see on my profile, but the NI KK that I have is the S88 (MK2). It was purchased brand new from Sweetwater in July 2022, and the registration information is listed in my profile. Thank you for the info. I’ve added a photo for clarity.

To Jeremy – Thank you for all your responses. My comment about communication wasn’t just based on assumptions but also on my own attempts to connect via live chat and find a direct contact method (email, etc.). It’s certainly not made simple.

I’m new to posting here because, in the past, I’ve usually managed to figure out my issues on my own. But across all these forums, I’ve had the same experience, wanting an easier path to tech support but not finding one. I’ve done my own troubleshooting with past issues and have consistently found that accessing NI support isn’t as easy as some might claim. This community is far quicker- So thank you for your quick response.

    To answer some of these…

    Yes- to full disk access

Yes- All Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol work in the stand alone. (although now in Ableton I access NI through VST3 and not VST- the old version still is there in Ableton under VST)

No its not the USB connection- Everything was working fine until update, now keyboard is not recognized

Yes- transferred MK2 folders midi script updates in to Ableton application. Still nothing.

    Yes- Restarted everything multiple times.

Would it be too risky to uninstall then reinstall everything? I feel like at this point I've moved too many things around with following various backend instructions that seemed like they had pertained to my situation, but now I don't know if I have made it worst. I'm fearful of losing sounds in many of my projects. The current one is already missing my NI sounds. Here are a few photos.

Again, thank you for you responses and time. Much appreciated.

I still think a rollback to Komplete Kontrol v2.9.6 is worth a shot here - to at least establish a baseline.

You did indicate this all started with an "update" to Komplete Kontrol.

And - when you have a sec - please consider updating your profile to current.

Right now - we think you are running OS Monterey - and just an "S88" which makes troubleshooting confusing.

So do you mean that in Komplete Kontrol in standalone, you can browse, load presets, play them and control them? that's what I meant.

Have you checked the article? Can you check with Activity Monitor if these services are running or not?

The NIHardwareAgent or NIHostIntegrationAgent services are not running in the background

Make sure that both the NIHardwareAgent and the NIHostIntegrationAgent applications are set as startup items.

    1. Open your Mac's System Preferences and choose Users & Groups.
    2. Make sure your account is selected under Current User and go to the Login Items tab. Verify if both NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent are listed in the login items.
    3. If any of these two items are missing from the list, add them by clicking the '+' icon.
    4. Navigate to the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Hardware
    5. Select the missing service and click Add, as shown below.

Please open the Komplete Kontrol standalone application and check the input MIDI preferences, what is selected here? Feel free to post a screenshot.

The scripts for Ableton is a different thing, it's only for the host integration with Ableton. What version of Ableton are you using?

Yes- All Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol work in the stand alone. (although now in Ableton I access NI through VST3 and not VST- the old version still is there in Ableton under VST)

Just to be clear, if you are using Ableton 10 or more you don't have to use these old Ableton racks. Also there should not be any scripts to copy Please check this article, you'll find instructions for diiferent versions of live, keyboard model and OS: How to Set Up a Kontrol Keyboard with Your DAW

What you can try to uninstall and reinstall is the Komplete Kontrol application.

If none of this hlped, please get in touch with my colleagues here: https://bit.ly/NI_support_Kontrol

I know that it doesn't look like the perfect user journey, we're going to make this way clearer soon. In the meantime you simply need to insist a little, tell the chatbot you want to contact support. If a livechat agent is not available your request is turned into an email request and you get a notification.

If you have issues with logging in, use the dedicated typeform. You can also find information here: https://bit.ly/NI_Support_How

I just want to take a moment, and thank ALL of you for your support, time, and energy that you are investing in order to help me. This means a lot. I'll keep you posted. I have to set sail for the day but will dust myself off later and be in touch after following all your various suggestions. I've got too big of song in the works that Lady Gaga would want to lose it. ;) Thank you immensely. I'll follow up soon.

I have followed all your leads to no avail. At this point I have to go to tech support. What I will do is give you an update once this hopefully gets resolved. I did a roll back to 2.9 and followed the entire directions of going in and erasing all the various Komplete Kontrol folders to start fresh but the library was empty in both 2.9 stand alone and in Ableton. I rescanned in Abletons Midi preferences and so much more. I've made sure full disk acsess. I'm working with Ableton 11 Suit to answer a previous question.

    1. Navigate to the following location:
Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Native Instruments > Hardware
    2. Select the missing service and click Add, as shown below.

Didn't have to add any of the above because they were already there.

In Ableton its not even recognizing the keyboard in the Midi part of the preferences. IT IS NOT A USB issue I can asure you this. Like I've said, it all went to ****** when I updated to Komplete Kontrol 3.XX.

Again thank you for your efforts, I'll have to take another route.
