How to ensure long term availability of products and libraries?

It might sound a bit paranoid but with all the belly-ups in Germany, I'm wondering what would happen in case of NI would face bankrupcy and the servers which provide the necessary software were turned off. I cincerely hope this will never happen - for all the employees as well as the consumers. But at the moment everything is so unstable…

For this I create a backup of the all the downloaded files by Native Access (all the .iso, .pkg, .dmg files). But somehow I doubt that an offline installation from scratch would work that way.

Not that I don't understand the need for NI to check licences and make sure we don't use pirated software - that's clear and perfectly fine. But I also want to protect my investment - in libraries and especially the music I produce with them.

Again, I do in no way try to circumvent any licencing and no one else than me will ever get a hold of these downloaded binaries. I just want to be on the safe side.

Any idea or input from NI?

The only way to "ensure long term availability of products and libraries" is to take a full computer backup with drive image based backup of system drive and a full backup of content drive in the state it is at the time of the backup. The libraries and Kontakt all needs activation in Native Access. Also backups are only good as long as the hardware is running since changes to the hardware can make the software not work anymore anyway.

Anyway , it's extremely difficult to make promises or even long term analysis on behalf of other people , can be difficult even on behalf of one self , however unless we are seeing sudden and abrupt changes to the world where IT and IT infrastructure suddenly becomes disrupted or extremely expensive to use or maintain then I do not think that N.I. is going to go 'belly up' and even if they should do so then someone would come along to pickup both all the IP and the customers.
