How to customize the lights on Kontrol S61 Keyboard
Hello all, just got my Kontrol s61 and I'm trying to customize the light colors like I had on my last keyboard and I cant figure out how to do it. The corresponding lights are not even lighting up when I press the key.

You have given no keyboard version information (MK1 ? , MK2 ?, MK3 ?) so the only thing that I can suggest is to look in the manual.

Not aware of any way to "customize" the lights on any NI S61
On my MKII - by design - the lights of course turn all sorts of cool colors when an NKS compliant instrument is loaded in Komplete Kontrol and comes with full Light Guide support.
But my lights - all of them - are a nice "gentle on the eyes" low vibe blue at all times when using the board - and each individual light does get a tad brighter when I press a key - but that is all.

Yeah Im talking about just using it as a general midi controller in DAW - Theres no way to just set the lights like you could before in komplete kontrol? LIke i said before everything is blue but the corresponding keys are not even getting brighter after I hit the keys.

Which S61 do you have? If it's the MKIII - I think there were some subtle changes to lighting - but cannot remember if "no bright key on press" was a specific change.

its the MK3 and it was working when i first plugged it in before i updated everything

What do you mean "was" working? What does it do now - nothing? Lights/ No Lights?

sorry, no everything is working. Just all of it is blue and whenever i hit a key its not lighting up any brighter. It was all blue and the keys were lighting up brighter as i played until i installed the new komplete control and native access. There used to be a midi button you could hit on komplete kontrol that would let you change the colors and its not there anymore.

I figured it out you have to do it on the hardware in midi. theres no way to make it rainbow or do custom colors to break up the keybaord which is stupid but, oh well
