Akoustik Piano on old drive, move to new computer

I’ve had Akoustik Piano for several years installed on an older computer. Last night I moved that drive into an external enclosure and coupled that to a newer computer. I can find the app on the new unit but can’t get it to operate (“missing” file or similar messages)

How can I make it work again?
many thanks.

wow! I can’t explain it, but I’m all good now. (Last night I had decided to try and install from the discs.) Earlier tonight I booted up the computer, clicked on the desktop icon, and it started to open. But first got the message to register the product or it wouldn’t work in 30 days. I think I tried to “register” it (again, but my original install years ago shows in my NI account) but freaked when I got a message about the site being suspicious or worse (NativeInstruments.de) so I bailed out until I could be assured it wasn’t some scam site…)After clicking OK, the program opened just fine and all pianos are working perfectly…😯😊

Thanks for hanging in with me guys.

I believe that "moving" a drive - effectively kills all authorizations. You would need to reinstall Native Access and ensure that it know about all the products so it can effectively activate all the products.

Akoustik Piano is a very old (now retired) instrument - that can still be installed/activated by going to Preferences→Legacy Products and set the Show Discontinued Products slider to ON.

This should make Akoustik Piano become visible under Library→Instruments where you can then use the Locate function in NA to point your existing AP library files.

    VocalPoint…

I tried my best to do your suggestion, but not much luck. I couldn’t find a path of “preferences…etc.” Nothing resembling a “slider”. But I found a link to Legacy updates and such, I think after I downloaded the Access2. I tried the latest update and got hung up, so then I went back and tried an older one. Not much luck with it. I found my original installation discs and proceeded to run them. Got it done, and opened from the install. Closed it out and then clicked to open off the desktop, and error message. Somehow, clicking through several window messages it opened. I believe I ended up putting some sections in the wrong locations during the install…confusing. Maybe some previous actions screwed with the new install. Afterwards I got a message about it was only usable for 30 days and needed to register. I started to do that, and on that Registration Tool page I got a warning that it was likely a bogus page, (NativeInstruments.de) so I bailed out of it.

At this point I think I’ll delete every bit of it and start the install fresh. And possibly looking to buy a newer similar software…

Jeremy …I glanced over some of this linked info. Looks interesting. But I did find one note that said it could not be installed through Access2 but had to be “rolled back” to Access1. That link didn’t really tell me how to do that as the included message said…

Hopefully tonight I can get time to dig into it more.
    many thanks.

All my instructions are based on Native Access v3.17

If you are attempting to use any other version of Native Access - especially v1 - do not proceed.

v1 is retired and will not get you where you need to be.

Native Access v3.17 is the way forward.

would I be better off deleting whatever I have so far, and start from scratch with my two installation discs??

Installation discs? Not understanding this as those haven’t been needed for a decade.

All you should need to do in install Native Access (3.17.0) login with you NI credentials and you should see your stuff. Install when ready.

hmmmm…sorry, at my age this stuff perplexes me—some years back I was more able to “catch on”…🥴

That sounds easy enough, but I always seem to get some things/prompts that I’m not sure of…I’ve been pretty lucky in most cases to figure them out, but in this particular one I may have met my match…

Yes I do have my NI credentials and have seen my products and serial number, but how do I find this “3.17”?

Just Google Native Access - should take you right to the latest version

well…at least I THINK it’s ok. For some reason, it seems like the 4 main pianos sound pretty much the same…I’m thinking there were more variations between them. Each piano does show 4 or 5 variations in the selection menu/window, but I could almost swear there isn’t hardly any difference.
    Does that make any sense?

    VocalPoint…

Just another note here—I never could find an actual Access 3.17…I found many other versions but nothing close to this. I even found some other post comments that I would have to use Access2. In short, I found a bunch of varied “options” on how it should be done, or that it couldn’t be done. I filed a ticket with NI asking how I could register this new install without using going to the Tool’s page with the .de suffix. (My security apps flagged it as bad) They’ve communicated with me but still no answer…at this point I’m thinking give up, and just update to a new software. 😉

There is only one place to get Native Access:

    Native Access 2

And the only version you can get from here is the latest = 3.17.0

Not exactly sure how you managed to find "many" other versions.

My head is spinning, after reading so many different pages—I should have taken pics to help me remember. (Yep, to add to the already 4000-plus I have on my phone😁) That said, there was a page that listed several versions, but if I recall correctly, they started with “1.**” or something similar. If that 3.** Version is the latest, then I believe I did that initially. And then I read in at least a couple places that what I wanted to do couldn’t be done with NA2, but had to be NA1. Honestly, at this point I’ve become so scattered with this, I’m giving up. Maybe it’s just too old of a product and a compatibility thing. I don’t know. The ticket at NI Support latest update is the page of How To…and that didn’t help either. So I’ve come to the conclusion of I can’t make it happen, so I’m now shopping for a new product.
I do appreciate your efforts trying to help me. 😊
