Hi,

is there any information about the Traktor S8 MIDI protocol and sysex messages that the Traktor S8 supports? It would be interesting to know how i can send data to the displays via MIDI and i know it's possible with other devices from Native Instruments.

Bye

I don't have Traktor S8 but I'm a bit interested in this question.

According to windows driver configuration file, both Traktor S8 and Maschine MK3 have "BD" endpoint in USB device endpoints.

Maschine MK3 display protocol is already reverse-engineered by someone.

    https://github.com/Drachenkaetzchen/cabl/blob/develop/doc/hardware/maschine-mk3/MaschineMK3-Display.md

It's a custom protocol that sending pixel data by using "BD" endpoint.
Maybe this means MIDI isn't used in display function. (I just read through this document so I don't know enough details.)

Guessing from these facts, I think Traktor S8 uses some sort of a custom protocol similar to Maschine MK3.

@chiaki thanks for answering. I reverse engineered the protocol by myself for several devices of NI (https://github.com/terminar/rebellion) with the addition to masquerade as NI application/session some years ago.

But that doesn't automatically mean that the S8 uses the same protocol and - it also doesn't automatically mean that this can be transported via MIDI Sysex - but it seems so. Some other iOS DJ software seems to fiddle with the display.

Thank you for your awesome project, I'll take a look. I am also using Ableton, would be interesting to see your implementation, maybe you gave me the missing link!

    Bye
