bar lines instead of time line

Is it possible to see barlines in the sample editor instead of minutes and seconds?

The answer should be…no

That would indeed be a nice workflow improvement.
Instead I use an app on my phone to translate BPM to ms.

It would be amazing, asked many times before since the age of dinosaurs.

This dude was asking about it.
(yes; that's AI. No, I'm not embarrassed for doing it)

Why do you want to see it in bars ?
the audio module shows bars , but it detects tempo and stretches the sample .
but I think what you can do is
Take the sample length in sec , in your case 4.91 add a zero so it’s in milliseconds so 4910 , if you use this calculator , it will give you the tempo at 12.22
If you add that to the tempo source field it should set the length to 1.00 , so I think you can bypass the calculator, if you just set the length to 1.00
Then you need to set the project tempo to the samples tempo for it to play at the right speed , you can use the samples tempo x4 or 8 if you want it to play over a longer per of the timeline , short samples will play over a beat or two , but by multiplying the tempo by 4 you can get it to play over a bar etc , you just need to update the audio module length to the amount you multiply by .
If you layer the original sample over the top , you’ll see they play together
Once the project tempo is set , You can mess about with the sample tempo or length, to double or halve its speed or to whatever length you desire, then resample the results and load it to a new sample slot .
if you want to chop it to beat , you can , but there is no snap to beat , so it’s best to divide the selection length , in the selection range field , tho it doesn’t allow .0 figures , eg 248817 divided by 2 = 12408.5 but you can’t enter the .5 , so round up to the next even number.

@ALDREAD asked:
Why do you want to see it in bars ?
For example to see how long a sound tail is compared to the tempo.
@Michael Terry if you want to cut off the sample at exact beat lenghts (e.g. 1/4), you can also change the Sampler from One-Shot to ADHR mode and use the note length to control the length of the sound tail.

I can think of many reasons to want to see time divisions, but almost no reason to see the length in seconds.

if you resample a sample in the sampler , using sync or loop , and set a length to say 1 bar , it will show you the bar/beat divisions in the rec section , but as soon as you go to edit section they are gone , you can go back and forth , but once you make an edit , you can’t
if you load in the audio module , you can see the bar/beat division in both sections , then I suppose from there you can do what you want to do and resample the results ?I think the trick here is to work out the original sample tempo and set your project to the same tempo or multiple of , then edit sample , resample
Here’s an example
I’ve got a sample (chord A mothership 1) from the Maschine library, Ive loaded it in to the sampler and the audio module
it’s 5.65 sec , the calculator, and the audio module ( length set to 1 ) tells me it’s tempo is 10.63
If I set the project tempo to 10.63 , the sample will play a duration of 1 beat ( just under ) thats both the original sample played in the sampler and the audio module version
because it’s easier to resample a bar , I multiply 10.63 x 4 and set my tempo to 42.52 , now my sample plays for a bar , I set the audio module to 4 ( length) and it plays the same (right speed) as the sample in the sampler
If I change the length in the audio module to 3 , the sample will only play for 3 beats of the timeline , then loop to the start for the last beat
If I resample that in a sampler , I can then take the selection range , divide it by 4 , and then multiply the result by 3 , that takes me to where the sample reloops to the start and I can chop that off
Now my sample only runs for 3 beats instead of the original 4 , and it’s now only 4.23s instead of 5.65s , and has a new tempo of 14.17
You can mess with the length in the audio module , , but the length denotes how much you have to divide/multiply the selection range
if I say , change the length to 3.50 instead of 3 , I’d have to divide by 8 and multiply by 7 to get the selection range bang on , obviously you could chop it by eye0 -
I’m not a big sample user outside of drum samples and loops tho I’ve been using Rex loops lately .Off the top of my head, I’m thinking, if you wanted to stretch a sample to fit ?
Love some more examples
just found a few bugs on the samplerAfter time stretching / using undo it says , undo silence selection, not undo time stretch
Also , not sure if this is a bug
Are you meant to be able to stretch by 1000% in free mode
you can only stretch in multiple of 10 , occasionally it lets you move in increments of 1 , but not often , it won’t allow you to enter a figure manually

I use the Sampler all day everyday, slicing up things to rearrange and/or to perform.
No sampler stretch, since it's destructive, sounds terrible, dupes my samples, etc.
Often I just want time division slices on something that is not a perfect loop, to know where to slice, or to have one-shot samples that start/end at the right places. For sources that are not drums, say a pad where there is not much transient info it gets tricky, or vocals. Other times the simple visual info can also help me make this sort of decision… Say open hat that is exactly 1/4 of a beat but I dont want to have to use ADSR, a riser that is exactly 2 bars, etc..
When it is a perfect loop I can use the Split function and then remove slice points I might not need, works OK as a workaround as long as the sample is not too long.

just want to say a huge +1 for being able to see bar divisions on the audio editor
and I think it needs to be accompanied with an snap to grid function that is also added to it
for comparison bar divisions are a thing in the audio editor on MPC/Force and you can move the playhead around to do precise select/cut/paste
sadly another thing that has been requested for years and feels like talking into the void these days
