Crash (Analyse / Scanning of tracks)

I have a new MacBook Pro 2024 with Apple M4 Pro and 24 Gb Ram, 1tb SSD. As soon as I connect the external hard disk (2tb SSD, 800 gb used
), the tracks are scanned or analyzed and this data is loaded into the Mac's memory. Without this, the search function in Traktor does not work. I have now let the Mac load the tracks for 2 days, this also worked well. Now that this step has been completed, the tracks are analyzed again and loaded into the memory until the following error message appears at some point and the Mac crashes. This also happened while I was deejaying on a booking. The complete Computer crashes .I never had these problems with my MacBook Pro from 2012. Identical hard disk and identical hardware. I have now updated from Traktor 3 to 4 in the hope that it was a bug, but unfortunately not.

Heyo!
So, taking a look into this issue, it seems like your format in the hard drive is not correct. You definitely have to use Apple File System (APFS) when using your drive with mac.
If you wanna use the hard drive for both computers, it is not gonna work. I suggest you, either buying a new one for each computer or using your internal one for the mac.

Have you done all the Mac user must do ? :
Be sure that you are using latest version of Native Access for your OS
ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : Howto Enable Full Disk Access on mac OS and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats
Also then please check that iCloud Private Relay has been turned off : Native Access Error Message: "Download failed" (macOS)
Also then do not use Clean My Mac.
And quote Kymeia : if using Sequoia then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network

Else maybe you should try to run TP under Rosetta ? This discussion suggests it. (I don't know if this is related : Traktor M1 Max (ARM) issues since Traktor 3.9.0 - Potential fix?)

The disc is running in ExFat i need to be able to use it on a windows PC sometimes.
I have given the disc access to NTK Deamon, Traktor and Access.

@Martiniix_NI , do you have anything to add here ?
@Dakaudo , if Martiniix_NI has nothing to add within a day or two and if problem persists then my only other advice would be to contact N.I. Traktor Support .

Do I understand correctly that Traktor has a 132GB memory footprint? There must be a giant memory leak to eat so much RAM….

are there any news @Martiniix_NI ? Traktor is without using it, just opened now within 1,5h by 98gb memory eating. It scans the tracks and loads everything into the memory. I am beginning to despair. I never had these problems with my old 2012 Macbook Pro.

Martiniix : This is strange. I am using an external SSD with my Macbook Pro M4 and my Windows 10 PC.
My entire music collection is on that drive.
My external SSD is using ExFAT and I use it without any issues with Traktor Pro4 on both machines. But it is obvious that Dakaudo has a problem with his external HDD.

If that's the case (and I don't think it is to be honest), it's an issue which needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Filesystem access is a job of the Operating System and Traktor should rely on the ExFAT implementation of the OS.
What makes Traktor handle files differently on ExFAT than APFS?
As noted by @Toxicaudio the problem does not occur with his MacBook…

for me it is also a bit surprising. Why is the ExFat the issue of the problem, even if its working @Toxicaudio system? Could you please have a second look into it? @Martiniix_NI
Thank you in advance for your great support.

@Dakaudo: the main difference between your setting and mine is : I "moved" Traktor from Win10 to Mac. You started from scratch. I don't know if this can be the reason why your system is not working.
I formatted the external drive with ExFAT and I copied my entire track collection (1.8TB).After that I followed the recommended instructions from NI. There was no need to (re)analyze my tracks!
Can you try to reduce the amount of audio files (for example 20 tracks) on the external drive and test how TP4 is handling these tracks?
