Cannot use my external hard-drive to save downloads

Hi, I have attempted multiple times to redirect my downloads to my external hard drive and the following error continues to pop up when choosing to install any pack to the hard drive.

The hard drive has 207 GB of space so not the issue. Using a flash drive resolves the issue (so must be something to do with the drive I wish to use). I want to store all of my NI libraries/instruments etc on a specific external drive to save space on my computer's main HD. The external drive is a Seagate SSD drive and it works perfectly with everything else I require it for. A specific folder has been created as the dedicated download location within the root folder of the SSD. All troubleshooting has been applied that is provided on the NI support pages. Any further support as to what may be the issue and how I can begin to resolve to save packs on my chosen external drive. Cheers

Be sure to be using latest version of Native Access for your OS

If using Mac then you should do all the Mac users must do when using N.I. software ? :

ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : Howto Enable Full Disk Access on mac OS and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

Also then please check that iCloud Private Relay has been turned off : Native Access Error Message: "Download failed" (macOS)

Also then do not use Clean My Mac.

And quote Kymeia : if using Sequoia then N.I. apps must be added to the Local Network

Else try resetting the file management paths in Native Access.

Also , be sure to have plenty of disk space on both download drive, system drive for temp space and on Content location drive.

Also reffahcs 2024-03-07 (instruction screenshots included in the original post)

Check with Disk Utility to see if you have any snapshots that are taking up space.

You'll have to enable show snap shots first though if you haven't already.

You can also verify this by going to the terminal and typing du -H

If NA is complaining about disk space, more than likely you will see a difference in free space in the terminal compared to Disk Utility.

Is the external drive formatted as APFS, and do NTKDaemon and Native Access have Full Disk Access? I expect they do if you've been through all the other troubleshooting, but quick to check.

Do you need to have downloads on the external drive? Downloads get deleted once the product has been installed so you could leave them on the main Mac drive if you have enough space and just have the libraries on the external drive.

The thing is that if the installation disc and download disc are the same, you need more space than the size of the content. You need space for installed contend and also for installation file of content just beeing installed. And for that that is downloaded while the other installed. And also download size is smaller than installed size.

So depending on what you install, 207 GB may be too small to fit everything needed in. But sure, there may be also another reason than this.
