Installing Expansion Pack on Maschine+
Total newbie. I've just purchased a Maschine+ and then purchased the Timeless Glow expansion pack for the NI website.
How do I load it on to the Maschine+
I assumed I did not require Native Access as this is a standalone peice of Hardware.
I've looked on the community, but getting lost.
Any help appreciated.

Of course.
I purchased a second hand Maschine Plus. The guy sent me the Transfer ID and the Serial Number.
I went through the transfer process on the Native Instruments website and started using the machine.
However although it worked, I hadn't gone through the process of linking the machine to my NI account.
I factory reset the Maschine Plus and it presented me with the QR code, which then allowed me to link it to my account.
When I check the NI Products and Serials page there was a Second Serial number that was stating it was unregistered (Maschine Plus Selection Mk2). When I added that Serial number to my account everything started working.
The Expansion pack then appeared on the Maschine Plus.
If I'm honest not. Sure what fixed my issue.... But making sure you go through the reset process and using the QR code to link you Maschine Plus to you account was important and not entirely clear... As was ensuring all your Serial numbers are 'claumed'

Expansions are installed like everything else on the Maschine+:
Manual page 45 Working with Maschine+:
7. Working with MASCHINE+
This chapter holds useful information for your everyday work with MASCHINE+.
7.1. Using the Library
The Library enables you to download and install products, view installed products, and check your Native Instruments account for updates of products you own.
7.1.1. Downloading Content to Your Library
The Library enables you to download and install all of your plug-ins and content from your Native Instruments account using your Native ID.

Cheers Ozon. So the pack I purchased on the website (because It wasn't displayed in the Library under Available) can't be loaded on to my Maschine+?
I've seen a couple of You bids of people using Timeless Glow, so assumed I had to purchase it not in Maschine+ when it wasn't listed

No, Everything that Ozon told you is correct and Timeless Glow is compatible with M+ and should appear under Available for installation.
That said…this morning I had a couple of problems…but let’s face things one by one:
- Be sure that the Expansions is in your Account (go in NI website, under your Account/My products and Serials and check if it is listed as registered or not registered. In this case you need Native Access to enter its serial and register it)
- Once you are sure, go in M+, assure it is connected on the internet (more on this later) and logged to your account and, if you see a “spinning wheel” close to the CPU usage percentage, let it perform until the wheel disappear (be patient)
- Go in Settings/Library and check if the Expansion is listed as Available. If not, try with the RESCAN button.
That said… this morning I had issues that I never noticed….
My M+ wasn’t connecting to the internet (which could also happen, and in this case the Available list will not appear, of course).
BUT…what puzzles me is that also the already installed on M+ Expansions were not there…😶😶😶.
When I managed to connect to the WiFi again, the Expansions appeared as available to install (all of them). But no installed Expansions. Reascan didn’t change anything.
Only after restarting M+ and letting the spinning wheel do its things for a couple of minutes everything was back as usual: already installed expansions ready to use in browser, not installed available for installation…
What does being connected on the internet or not have to do with the Expansions that are already in the SD card??? I remember having used M+ away from my WiFi (and therefore not connected) without losing access at already installed on SD Expansions…
Does anyone else ever stumbled across that?
@Jeremy_NI is NI having troubles with servers? And…in any case…what’s the issue with installed on SD Expansions not available when not connected???
Edit: out of curiosity, I tried to put M+ in Airplane Mode, turn it off and on again. Turning on, it is still on Airplane Mode and (of course) not connected to the internet. But the installed Expansions are still there….
Edit 2: correction…after some of the restart only SOME installed Expansions reappeared (sometimes 6, sometimes 12,…). Rescan didn’t change the thing. Ulterior M+ restart make them all disappear again. Ulterior ulterior restart…reappear… (but at this point I ask myself if they ALL reappeared….since I don’t remember what I had previously installed and what not, since I sometimes uninstall some… but…rethinking about it…I doubt I have only 12 of them installed…).
Edit 3: ulterior restart: still 12 installed reappeared…but different from the ones that reappeared before…(confirmation that I installed more than 12…).
At every restart, a different situation… WiFi working, WiFi not working, installed Expansions not available, installed Expansions available, one time 6, one time 12, one time 7, one time these, one time those…
What is this mess???
Before it gets asked: M+ updated and on latest firmware, original SD card provided with M+

Update after 1 and a half hours of turn on, turn off, connect, disconnect, rescans…
Now I am at 33 previously installed Expansions appearing…
Am I at the end of this odyssey? Or there are more that don’t appear yet? How many restart (and how much luck…because I start thinking it is all based on that) will I need?
Or even worst….will I be back to 0 at next restart???
Sad, sad situation…😔
Suggestion to NI:Get us all angry by stopping EVERY development, updates, upgrades of all your products (Maschine, Traktor, Komplete, Battery, Reaktor,…) and development of new packs/Play Series instruments,…and collaborations…
BUT…
FIX NATIVE ACCESS and all the owned products recognition/installation/validation/registration system!!!
It’s the core of all your ecosystem… without it working properly, all other products are in a mess…
Continuing to put a rag to the mess it is causing to so many users by asking to contact support and adding by hand stuffs that don’t appear/don’t work/are in demo mode/can’t be authorized is… unacceptable… for us…and for you… (as is, for us helping here in the forum, having to point users at 4, 6, 9 years old articles showing how to “solve” the situations. Ever thought of fixing them?)
Next time I’ll see “we try not to make support being flooded by requests” and “we are slower than we would like because support has many requests” I’ll remember you that having WELL functioning products, properly released, and with bugs being resolved would be THE BEST WAY not to have so many support requests…specially the core product managing them all…
Please @Jeremy_NI… pass this suggestion to whom it may concern… I’m sure it would help you and your colleagues at support A LOT, if taken in consideration…

Hi,
I have 2 expansions that somehow require reinstalling every week or so. Sometimes its 3 or more but they are always the same ones.
they always seem to need reinstallation in alphabetical order.
backyard jams and borough chops are the 2 that happen mostly. (They are the first 2 in my expansion list).
Sometimes I need to install chromatic fire and from the top of my head this happens up to the letter L for some reason.Any expansion past the letter L never had/has this problem on my Maschine.
Since I see this in your picture of the library I decided to respond to this topic.
I tried keeping it in AirPlane mode but that didn’t seem to solve the problem.I never remove the sd card from the Maschine as was somewhere suggested by D-One (forgive me if someone else said this). This made the problem less prevalent but doens’t solve it.
It happens on the original sd card as well as my main sd card. Imo the sd card used should never be an excuse for this issue to happen or not.
Firmware is up to date as well.I agree that its unacceptable that already installed expansions disappear from my library (sd card) from time to time.
It also makes no sense to me that this happens since they are allready installed

Thank you. Even for your case these things happens because of M+ not being able to connect?
Btw: I NEVER had this problem…just happened this morning and the forth and back with expansions being there/disappearing and having to turn M+ on and off drove me crazy…
NI problems can really be unpredictable and mysterious…😶
As is a RESCAN button not doing anything.
But… I suspect the problem is not in the Maschine itself, but the “products owned in accounts” online checking system

I don’t know if it has anything to do with connecting in my case.
I only noticed my Maschine not connecting once to be honest. But I started noticing by the available space on my sd card If they are missing or not.
Rescanning the library doesnt make them reappear in the library but I will keep an eye on it when it happens again. usually I just reinstall them, make some coffee and continue
I think your suspicion might be right. but the available space should not change if its just a checking issue.
I got better in dealing with missing files and samples but a couple of years ago ( working with Cubase) a missing sample would have me reinstall my whole computer. 😳I hope this can help resolve the issue,
And Thank you for your extensive testing!
Mysterious and unpredictable indeed 😔.0 -
I don’t know if the SD available space changed. But I doubt, since I didn’t have to reinstall anything. After the whole fight, the installed Expansions were just shown again

Hi,
I just checked starting Maschine+ in airplane mode.
Only backyard jams was missing from my library this time.
After refreshing the library it still didn’t show up.
It was showing understand available downloads.I restarted with airplane mode off and the expansion was back installed in my library.
Sorry @atkinsTVR for turning your question into a different discussion. I hope your expansion is working now Anton are enjoying your Maschine😀.

Happy you managed to solve it. Could you write what solved the problem? It could be useful for users in the same situation reading the thread in future

Thanks,
seems like linking the hardware to your account with the qr code is necessary for the M+ to show all available products.
I think when you buy it new it is the first thing it asks you to do After connecting to the internet.
I bought mine as a b stock and remember it didnt show the qr code but was running with the factory library and chromatic fire when I first turned it on.After resetting the qr code didnt work in my case as it was allready registered to another user but that was a different problem that NI support helped me solve,

Yes, the main point is that M+ must be linked with your account, otherwise it cannot see the expansion you bought (which is itself linked to your account).
Thank you for reporting back
