Machine with piano keyboard

Has there been any talk about native instruments releasing a standalone Machine device with a built-in piano keyboard, like the Akai MPC key 37?

There's nothing like that planned for at least the current year as far as I'm aware. The MPC key looks good I have to say, although for me the pads look like they're on the wrong side as I'm so used to hitting pads etc with my right hand!

You can always sit on the other side of the device, so the pads will be on your right hand…

And you’ll have the challenge to learn to play the keybed upside down…which could lead to never heard before compositions…innovation is a prerogative of crazy minded people…

Or use your left hand on the keyboard only on very low octaves, allowing the right hand to easily land on the pads…also this could lead to innovative compositions…let’s call this new genre VeLoTo Music…“Very Low Tones Music”

    😂😂😂

That's an interesting point, although presumably people are buying a keyboard because they want to play the keys rather than the pads, so a righty's hand would be doing that.

Also the shape dictates the space, the screen needs to be central, the pads can't fit below the screen (too narrow) and the controls are on the right.

The MPC Live has the pads to the left of the screen too…

I suppose the decision has been taken because you need more “precision” to use the small entries on a touchscreen than to play a bigger pad (well…let’s say to push it… playing, at least in my case, needs my “main” hand anyway. But when really playing and not just launching things or testing a sound, I’m probably not using the touchscreen at the same time anyway).

And you need more fingers’ dexterity on a keyboard than on pads.

One thing is sure: if you are a left-handed in this world, you are practically ignored. Almost nothing is designed for them 😂

True, but then I guess they have to adapt from birth. One of my friends is a lefty and when sharing a computer it's a constant battle with the mouse on the left vs right. 🤣

I would love to have Maschine and Kontrol combined into one controller, like MPC Keys.

However, NI has mentioned few times that they think it’s not something they want to do, so there’s that.

Do you remember when they said a keyboard version is something they didn't want to do?

yeah I’d love a keyboard maschine, , just having 1 controller would be great , I was thinking , not 16 pads , i don't think they’re that useful on a keyboard kinda too far away if you’re a serious finger drummer , so 32 jam size pads , for light drum use , but also for step sequencing and pattern / scene selection

I recall it was when Kontrol Mk3 has been just released, there was a huge thread about it back then.
