MIDI Focus on Different Tracks While Recording (Maschine+ Standalone)

I've been trying to find a setting for this and I'm a bit confused - Is it really the case that if you have a group being triggered via external MIDI, Maschine will always switch focus to whatever is being triggered. So you can't record on a different track, even if that different track is not controlled via MIDI?

    So I guess now you can only control one group at a time then? I tried with several instruments on one group and could trigger them all fine.. but I I tried to add a group with drums on another group I suddenly Sequence both.. what an annoying and unnecessary limitation..
