How do you add numbers to beat grids?
Every other program has their beat grid with numbers except Traktor 4. Why not? it makes it so easy to know when you are storing drops, counts in phrases is fast, and you can memorize locations in the track vs having to see the time stamp
Could this pretty please get added?

You can display a beatcounter in the Deck Header, if you adjust the values in Preferences. And you can scatter numbered hotcues around the track in the right locations, if you are so inclined. Having a number at every beat show up in the waveform may add to the clutter already present.
But to answer your questions.
Why? Who knows. NI isn't talking
Could this be added? It can certainly be added to the long list. It won't be in the top ten for sure. Seeing that updates come once or twice a year with a single feature added or fixed each time i would say: don't wait for it.

If you mean hot cue labels that is an often requested feature.
Else I don't know what you mean. You can already see at which bar and beat you are. Or am I dreaming? I don't have traktor in front of me right now.

on the top of each of the 4 beats in the grid - there is an option for Hash marks or transparent or full markers - but nothing that I can see that gives it a number. Most drops occur on Odd numbers and it would be nice to be able to time out my sets like in other platforms. Serrato and DJay Ai has it. Weird that this platform Traktor doesn't

Not on the grid itself, but you can show them in the deck header:
