Hi,

does anyone know if and when there will be an End-of-life for the 8DIO library?

Greetings

    Hi,

i have contacted 8Dio, and they said:

We don't currently plan on halting support for any of our libraries. However the NI versions are separate and are managed by them so for those versions you will want to message NI directly.

I am not sure if N.I: will not give you a similar answer but you could try asking N.I.Purchase Support or N.I. Kontakt Support. In case that you need guidance contacting support : How to contact NI Support and How to get in touch with our Customer Care

Looks like three of the products have already dropped off the NI site…

After reading this thread, I searched native-instruments.com for 8dio and brought up the products page. There are three products shown without prices, and clicking them leads to a 404 page.

Claire Woodwinds Bundle, Century Strings and Century Ostinato Strings II

    😐️

I am not entirely sure how it works with third party libraries when N.I. is selling those , I mean even if they are e.g. only sold for a short while and then removed from store then I am not sure if that constitutes "EOL" or if they will popup once in a while.

Yes , but those were all part of the Epic Symphony Bundle that N.I. just offered , and again then even if the products are only available at N.I. at a 'flash sale' then I don't know if that necessarily constitutes "EOL" of the product as soon as the flash sale is over.

Generally speaking though then when sales are on then very often then what is being offered is that which is last years models and often implies that manufacturer is moving on to something else ? But with software then it is sort of that way all over the place so if we argue that then all software is "EOL" or close to EOL the moment that we buy if we say that stopping to sell constitutes EOL. (?)

So while I appreciate the concerns of Endzone and the question then I think that most here are having libraries that were in no longer sold bundle versions and as long as they still can be used are they then really "EOL" ? or is it all "EOL" because it is not sold anymore ? I think that it all depends on viewpoints and how you define things.

My post was merely stating that those three products lead to a 404 message, not that they are/were EOL.

(for the benefit of whoever's supposed to be maintaining the web site)

wow, thanks for your efforts and support!!!

Let's see what NI says. I've created a support ticket.

If you want, I can post the answer here. Or does that violate any guidelines?😐️

Good question, I honestly don't know , but people quote parts of support answers here all the time , telling that support said this or that , so probably then it is probably OK to share at least the general gist of it all.

    @Endzone

I am still a little confused by your question. What exactly does "end of life' mean - to you? And these libraries?

@Vocalpoint : i mean it, regarding updates and (i don´t know) after a few years, not possible to download after a fresh installation of OS.

8DIO Orchestra Bundle - the offer for 199€

It's likely that neither 8DIO or Native Instruments could provide a definitive answer, as nobody can predict the future - as the reply you had from 8DIO ("we don't currently plan…") implies.
